!Disclaimer! This is not meant to be a picture perfect representation of what high school is like. I am not an expert or a psychic, and everyone's individual experiences will be different. This is written from my perspective as a junior in a public high school. I'm sorry if this doesn't seem inclusive to those who are homeschooled, but I've never had that experience in high school. This is simply meant to be some basic advice. Now, on with the project... My perspective as a freshman and as a junior (11th grader) are very different. When I first started high school, I wasn't sure what my life- at least my one at school- would look like for the next four years. It doesn't feel like long ago that I was in my last year of middle school, nervous and unsure of what the next step would look like. But here are some of the major changes I experienced once I started high school: The School It may seem obvious, but the physical environment was one of the biggest changes for me. Walking down the halls of my new school felt like traveling another dimension. Depending on the size of the campus, it can be hard to learn your way around, and it takes time. However, don't be afraid to ask for help, especially to teachers and staff. The Classes High school classes are harder than middle school classes. However, they're usually paced pretty well- you probably won't be bombarded with essays and tests as soon as you start your freshman year. Of course, this depends on where you live and the classes you chose too, but most of the time, it's not too hard when you start off. And if you have good teachers, they will understand that you're still adjusting. The People Of course. The students. The upperclassmen (juniors and seniors) were especially intimidating to me when I was a freshman. And some of them will make fun of you for being a newbie. But my best advice in that situation is to ignore those people as best as you can, and find people who will support you instead. In conclusion, high school is different for everyone. No two experiences are the same. But to who all who are starting this journey, I wish you the best. For all the bad things people say about it, there are a lot of good things about high school.
Feel free to ask me any questions <3 I'll try to help as much as I can. Good luck to all who are starting their freshman year in the fall <3
