Muddles' OC Lore: Muddles was born on the banks of the rushing Greybranch River, where the water ran swift, and the reeds whispered in the wind. She was a creature of the wild, with fur the color of damp earth and eyes like golden amber trapped beneath the surface of a still pond. Her life was intertwined with the water, the land, and the stormy skies that often loomed above. A deep scar cuts across her left eye, a remnant of a past she never speaks of. Some say she fought a predator twice her size, defending something precious. Others whisper she was touched by the river spirits themselves, marked as a reminder of a debt still unpaid. Regardless of the truth, the wound never fully healed, a jagged line that stands stark against her fur. But it is when the rain falls that Muddles becomes something almost otherworldly. As the first droplets touch her coat, her fur darkens, heavy and sodden, until she seems less like a creature of flesh and more like a figure sculpted from the very riverbank itself. The longer the rain lasts, the more she seems to dissolve into the earth, her form drooping like wet clay, her steps slow and deliberate as if she carries the weight of the storm itself. Despite her eerie appearance in the rain, Muddles is not a malevolent spirit. She is a guardian of the river, a wanderer who ensures that its waters remain untamed and free. Travelers who lose their way near the Greybranch speak of a shadowy figure watching from the reeds, eyes glinting even through the mist. If their intentions are pure, she guides them with silent steps, leading them back to safe paths. But if their hearts are filled with greed—if they seek to dam the river, pollute its waters, or take more than nature allows—then the storm rises, and Muddles is no longer just a guardian. She becomes the river’s wrath.
