IMMUNE SYSTEM SIMULATOR Click the green flag to start this simulation! HUGE thanks to vikingphoe939 for the immune cell sprites. INSTRUCTIONS You can use the numbers and 'Q' to summon more of each type of white blood cell or pathogen. Which white blood cells are which and what they do is in the Notes and Credits description below. :) Please leave a love if you enjoyed!
Regulatory T-cell Functions: 1. press d and a at the same time to shut down all white blood cells 2. press s to shut down all white blood cells touching the mouse Neutrophils do not restart at the bottom of the screen when you press 0 anymore. Pathogens now break to pieces when killed. It's all Kurzgesagt-style - that also means no more faces. Neutrophils have a new animation where they explode into clouds of deadly chemicals that kill the pathogens. Cells simply fade away to gray as they die. There is less lag now. Everything by @CodeBit. (Art by me.) INFORMATION ON THE SIMULATION & KEY/LEGEND The huge orange cell is a macrophage, an upgraded version of the monocyte. It can eat about 75-100 pathogens before it dies. The red cells with three blue lobes in them coming up from the bottom are the neutrophils, which are being generated in the bone and are going to the site of infection. They die after having ingested just a few pathogens, forming a gooey substance called pus. It's eaten by macrophages. The purple cells with the little dots on them are B-cells, or more specifically, plasma cells. They mass produce Y-shaped antibodies that only bind to certain pathogens with the matching antigens. The plasma cells each only make one type of antigen, but there are four types, represented by the letter and color on them that appears sometimes. The plasma cells are triggered to make antibodies when they are bumped into by another type of cell - the T-cells. These are the cells with the green tentacles. Most of them call for other white blood cells to come join the fight, some are cytotoxic t lymphocytes that kill off infected body cells, and some target the pathogens that have been flagged by the antibodies. The T-cells in this simulator attack the pathogens that have been flagged. The yellow cells floating around and are stunned by the blue antibodies are a type of pathogen. It's gobbled up and fought by everything, and is relatively weak. The dark green cells moving around and stunned by the round green antibodies are a non-specific type of germ. They are easily killed because they are stunned for a very long time. The pink 'cells' moving around that are stunned by the large round yellow antibodies are viruses. They are damaged less by neutrophils and a bit more resistant to T-cells. Lastly, there are some dark green ovals floating around. These are bacteria. They are not stunned for very long but are pretty weak. Watch the immune system battle!
