SUNLESS. ❝ i never thought i’d see the sky so filled with fear that the sun is no longer visible. ❞ ˚₊· ͟͟͞➳ CHERRY BLOSSOM (he/she, 24 moons) ⭒ in which the sun disappears from the sky. If only he had kept the curtains drawn. Sitting in his usual perch on the windowsill, starry eyes trained on her beloved sky as her nose pressed against the frosted glass. He hadn’t been sure what he saw when it happened. Like a flower of fire had suddenly bloomed in the clear sky. And then the smoke came and the world stopped. Whatever miracle Cherry Blossom had wanted as he wished upon the stars, it wasn’t coming. The utter panic as Avery’s furless and freckled hands packed up everything important he could and ushered his five cats into their crates only sent freezing bolts of dread into the quiet calico, frozen even as he heard the muffled worried whispers exchanged between her niece and nephews. Everything felt suffocated, not even just from being inside the crate. Like the sky was dripping with honeyed poison, stickily seeping into every crack of the mirror Cherry Blossom saw her reflection through. She understood in her heart, even if his head was empty and still processing. They were leaving. Something dangerous had happened, and they were leaving. Leaving without Sunset. Leaving without Forest. He could only pray they were safe. That they were either far, far away from here, or somehow scooped up by someone to safety. The star-kissed calico didn’t want to see new stars scattered in the night sky tonight, if he could even see anything through the smoke-filled sky. He couldn’t even see the sun through the dark, poisonous clouds anymore when he perked through the caged opening of his crate. Surrounded by the fear-tinged scents of Briar, Eddy, Marsh, and Glade, Cherry Blossom curled up to comfort herself as much as she could, her ears flattened from the panic heavy in the air. The kittypet gently touched his pink nose to the pale blue shell around his neck, his matching eyes fluttering open a tiny bit to look at it. He hadn’t looked at it up close in a while, but now he found comfort in tracing every ridge and curve with his gentle gaze. His caramel-dipped paws shook as the tri-coloured calico quickly brought the shell to his mouth, blowing into the shell weakly as to not disturb everyone too much, but he needed to hear the familiar, grounding sound. He was too far from his partner to be heard. The last puzzle piece to his heart still close to him, too far away for Cherry Blossom to hold and make sure she was still there. ‘Please be still there, Glo…’ He wanted to resent fate and every decision the world made when creating her world. He didn’t want anything more than simply having his brother’s familiar rosette tabby fur beside him to bury his nose into and inhale his familiar, comforting scent of sunshine. The moon and stars needed their sunlight, and he needed a miracle that was never going to come. Not after this. ˚₊· ͟͟͞➳ . ݁₊❀ ~ notes. ⭒ i can’t believe i get to be around for a great journey! i’m so excited for the new territories, skyclan, and the third character slots! <3 ⭒ cherry though, i’m sorry my dear… he’s not feeling too good after all this. ⭒ a short and not-so-sweet one this time! .⭒ ˚₊‧
