——————————chapter two—————————— There was a knock on the door. “Hello? Ian, Amanda? Anyone home?” A girl’s voice. A neighbour, maybe? I couldn’t help but bark. “Hello? Don’t worry, pup.” I think she grabbed the handle, turned, and pushed. The door was unlocked. She looked young, 11 or 12, maybe. She had long, curly brunette hair and beautiful hazel eyes. “Well, hello, there. I’m Becky. Becky Holmer.” Becky said. She picked me up. Her dungarees smelled of paint and crisps. I licked her cheek. She laughed and put me down. Becky then walked over to the kitchen, pulled a drawer, and grabbed a Post-It note and pink pen. She was writing something. I jumped, trying to see what she was writing. Becky tore aff the yellow note and stuck it to the table. “‘Dear Ian and Amanda, this is Becky Holmer, your neighbour! I’m talking one of the pups and will pay you when you get back. Thank you!’ Does that sound good?” she read aloud. I sneezed. “I like you.” Becky said, and carried me to her house next door.
