"Don't go too far!" the little girl's mother called from her beach chair. She nodded, skipping across the soft sand beneath her feet. Every step, she got closer to the ocean. Although the little girl knew how to swim, her mother had told her about the strong waves;their force to bring you out to sea. She didn't think it was a big deal. So once she felt the waves against her ankles, she wandered farther and farther out to sea. After a while, she felt a strong push. She stopped. Looked back. Just above the horizon, she saw the shore. But she wandered too far to see her mother. Her stomach dropped as the waves pushed her farther and farther. She didn't have the ability to swim backward anymore. Before she could scream for help, she was brought under the surface.
