Mindmelder is a really simple game I made in about half an hour. To begin, choose one of the modes by clicking on it's orb on the screen. In-depth details on them are below, but clicking on classic is advised for your first time. You just move the mouse to move your onscreen probe around, dodging the pink orbs that appear. When they show up, the orbs are purple; this means they are inactive, and can't hurt you. When they turn pink, they fly at you and touching them kills. Just try to survive as long as possible; the game tells you how long you lasted when you die. Be careful; the game gets tougher as you progress! EDIT: There are two different modes: Classic and Advanced In classic, the game handles exactly as described above In advanced, new types of foes will assail in phases 2 and 3. Furthermore, you will be able to press the space bar to overload your probe, destroying all foes next to you for a short period. You can do this three times per game (as shown by the marker in the upper right), but touch green cube powerups to replenish this number.
NOTE: Before you get bored and quit playing this please note that it gets MUCH harder once the eye opens after 25 seconds and Phase 2 and beyond come out. Also the screen randomly pixelating and bulging every five seconds isn't a glitch. The project was just a mish-mash of ideas; I made it when I was bored and felt like making something. I originally just had the things in classic mode; then I got bored and added more foes. This caused the game to be harder, so I added the haywire function. I didn't actually like this new function that much, but I didn't want to just delete everything I'd made, so I made a menu screen so you could choose one. Orb inspiration comes from Bedman's special move markers from Guilty Gear Xrd (for some reason [also they're much uglier]) Actual game play inspiration is from two sources: Assault Android Cactus's (a dual stick-shooter) final fight, in which the boss sends projectiles to track where you're standing from all angles. The final attack of Nova from Azure Striker Gunvolt (Pretty good plat-former by Kenji Inafune), in which purple orbs appear from around you, forcing you to duck and weave to dodge them as they close in on you.
