✰✰PLEASE WATCH YOUR HEALTH AT THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE SCREEN! As in the original game, they don't shrink down at their last hit, unlike in Mario 2, which makes no sense compared to Doki Doki Panic. If you see too many question marks on the screen or if this game lags a lot, I also recommend playing on TurboWarp. https://turbowarp.org/1135815148 CONTROLS: Use arrow keys and space to select a character. In the levels: Use the arrow keys to move. Hold the X key to run. Press the down arrow to duck/crouch and to enter pots. Press the Spacebar to pluck veggies and enemies, enter doors, pick up end of level orb etc... Press and hold down arrow key and wait for your character to flash and then up arrow to perform a super jump. Enjoy! To beat the first boss you have to jump on the egg it shoots, press space to pick it up, then throw the egg at it and repeat this 3 times. When it is defeated, pick up the orb, with pressing space. Hope that helps. To beat the final boss, (the moment he starts shooting bubbles) you have to throw a vegetable in his mouth that comes out of the Dream Machine. Character Stats: Imajin - The well-rounded one of the bunch, and good in all situations, no extreme abilities. He was replaced by Mario. Mama - Her jump is the BEST, but she has bad traction (slippery movement). She was replaced by Luigi. Papa - Fastest runner, and plucks turnips faster than the others, but has an awful jump. He was replaced by Toad. Lina - If you hold the up arrow while jumping, Lina has a special float ability that allows her to hover in mid-air, which can be used to jump safer and correct an otherwise fatal landing. However, she has the lowest speed and power. She was replaced by Princess Peach. The Chapters: Chapter 1 - Plateau Plains Chapter 2 - Dusty Desert Chapter 3 - Menacing Mountains Chapter 4 - Arctic Area Chapter 5 - Wacky World Chapter 6 - Chaotic Canyon Chapter 7 - Sinister Skies If you experience any glitches, click the flag. For those getting stuck at the title screen with nothing to do, just click the "PLEASE SET SIDE B" text. I made it look like an actual Disk System game. If all of your lives are gone and it's game over, don't worry. This project saves your current progress, so you can continue your adventure.
Notes: I kept accidentally pressing "Share the project" while working on this remix, causing @Spill-The-Beans (I don't think they are active anymore?) to get notifications that I remixed their project Super Mario Bros. 2 SEMI-PORT (Full Game) as Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic. I wanted to make a game similar to the original game. I did my best work, so please don't yell at me in the comments there are certain things that are not in Doki Doki Panic that are in Super Mario Bros. 2. Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic (translated as Dream Factory: Heart-Pounding Panic) released only in Japan for the Famicom Disk System on July 10th, 1987 in cooperation with Fuji Television. That game was later changed into the AMERICAN Super Mario Bros. 2 after Nintendo of America didn't think anyone outside of Japan could handle the Japanese Super Mario 2. (known outside of Japan as The Lost Levels) So Nintendo took the idea of recreating the FDS game Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic, turning it into a Mario game for the international release, and when it came to Japan, it was given the title Super Mario USA. Story: The young twins Piki and Poki tore off the last page of the book. Little did they know, it was magic! King Wart (Mamu) captured them. The family members ran into the scene as soon as they heard the screams. When they jump into the book, a new adventure begins! The name "Mamu" was also used in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening when Mamu teaches you the Frog's Song of Soul (300 rupees). Credits: Characters are owned by Fuji Television. Everything else is owned by Nintendo.
