In case it's blurry: Chapter 2: A Game of Cat and Mouse Shuichi had studied every heist Kokichi had pulled off, and all the patterns led him here—to the rooftop of a high-rise museum that housed a priceless artifact, the Celestial Ruby. A gemstone rumored to be worth more than the entire police budget of the city. The perfect target for a Phantom Thief. As Shuichi crouched in the shadows, watching the security system flicker out for precisely ten seconds—the exact window Kokichi had used in previous heists—he felt his pulse quicken. Then, like clockwork, a slim figure in a deep violet cape dropped down from the skylight, landing as effortlessly as a dancer. Kokichi. Even though he was seeing him in person for the first time, Shuichi recognized him instantly. The way he moved, the mischievous tilt of his head, the small smirk playing on his lips as if he already knew how this night would end. His dark eyes scanned the room, gleaming with a childish excitement that contrasted with the razor-sharp intelligence behind them. Shuichi tightened his grip on his gun but didn’t draw it. He needed to catch Kokichi off guard. "You're late, Saihara-chan," Kokichi called out suddenly, his voice playful yet knowing. He didn't even turn around. "I was beginning to think you weren’t going to show. That would’ve been so boring." Shuichi stiffened. He had been hiding. There was no way Kokichi should have known he was there. And yet, here he was, addressing him like an old friend rather than a detective trying to take him down. "You knew I was coming," Shuichi stated, stepping out of the shadows. "You planned this." Kokichi turned, smiling wider. "Duh! What kind of thief doesn’t plan for his own arrest? But don’t worry, I’ll make this fun for you!" And with that, he bolted.
