A revised, updated version of the previous character bio I made for Flap, now that I have the lore is figured out and I have a better idea of how I want things to be. Now 10% less cringe! Credit to @RDash75 for the template I re-remixed this from Extra notes (basically just a ton of messy flap game lore; most of this can be applied to Bob as well): Flap is the size and weight of a decently-heavy bowling ball. He's a sphere with wings in 3D. He was born the same day his game was created because that's when I made his sprite. Flap is intentionally not a perfect, ideal Christian. For example, he has a habit of being sarcastic and making fun of things which can be rude sometimes. He's meant to be a more realistic portrayal of a Christian, modeled somewhat after my own faith and values. Flap's imperfections also help make him more relatable as a character. In a weird way, Flap is kind of a role model for me in the way that he avoids conflict and arguments, and also the way he treats others in his character ratings. He's a lot better at expressing ideas verbally and proudly sharing his faith than I am. I strive to be like him in these ways, even though I created him. The flap game lore can essentially be boiled down to the idea that the fourth wall is nonexistent. It's completely meta and self-referential. It's a little hard for me to explain this idea, and it has a few weird implications. For example: PersonPersonson (hey that's me) is canonically friends with Flap and Bob, and also created them and the game they live in (flap). The idea of me creating them has uncomfortable religious implications, so let me quickly clear those up here: Flap's logic is that PersonPersonson isn't a god of some kind because he worships a God of his own, so that God is the one worthy of worship. That's how he got into Christianity and he built his faith from there. Bob was created a few weeks after Flap and got some of his religious ideas from him, but chose agnosticism instead. i know the concept of fictional characters canonically being friends with their creators is really cringe and feels egotistical almost, but it has to be addressed with the existential approach I took with game's lore. to make it less cringe, I rarely do anything with this idea and Flap seems more annoyed by Person than anything else in the few times that he is brought up. To Bob and Flap, Person feels kind of like a weird uncle, and they rarely hang out with him unless he's coding an update for the game. Every version of Flap in a separate project from the original game is a different version of the character. It's like a clone from the current version of the game, aware of everything about that game. The original Flap isn't aware of any of this unless PersonPersonson tells him, which isn't often. In the case of remix chains, that clone of Flap is cloned in every remix to have the same knowledge of the Flap in the project he was remixed from, unless the creator of the remix changes that. Basically, Flap can never really leave any Scratch project he's in. He's just copied over. Flap is aware of how all of this works and it causes him a bit of existential dread if he thinks about it too much. In whatever Scratch project he's in, Flap is aware of the user and the general workings of the Scratch website and how the user interacts with it. He constantly breaks the fourth wall because it's nonexistent. There are some limitations to this. For example, he can't see the user's face without the video sensing extension blocks being used in the project. In the game, Flap isn't forced to flap when the player wants him to. He just does it to let the player play the game. (In previous versions, his flapping movement was based on glide blocks, which inherently had a slight input delay. This was unintentional and I eventually figured out a good way to replace it much later on, but this could be considered as a lore reason as to why the delay was there in the first place) All of the game's UI and such is also visible to the characters. This part's where it gets a little iffy. With this lore applied to the characters, it would only be logical if Flap and Bob could only do what they are programmed to do by the creator of the project. But if that were the case, then they'd just be mindless robots. That would be boring as heck, so I've decided that they're still completely sentient (even though it's kind of paradoxical to the entire rest of the lore). Basically, Person made the characters with sentient AI and molded their personalities. Everything after that is up to them with no real strings attached The project creator can tell them what to do but they aren't bound by that, and the creator canonically codes every other part of the project. You can ask me any questions about the lore implications of stuff in the comments. I'm not trying to keep any of the lore secret because there's no point to any of that lol
