The Sharpshooters are the largest (and only) section of the Union Special Forces. Forming one battalion-strength unit, squads of sharps operate from concealed positions, planting mines or other obstacles on roads or picking off people at random. The 500 finest soldiers of Minarquette serve this purpose well. Squad Operations: There are 8 men in each Squad, making up a 2-man sniper team, a 3-man ordinance team, and a 3-man scout team. Each serves a vital purpose in the tactics of the formation. Snipers: Equipped with O'Glearys custom built for long-range usage, snipers conceal themselves in positions along a road or other vital area, often behind enemy lines. When a preferably weak or unwitting target passes through, the snipers fire on them. Although logistic and strategic damage is negligible, knowing they could be dead at any minute has a profound effect on enemy morale. Since the incorporation of anti-tank contingency, snipers often plant mines on roads during the night and also carry armor piercing rounds, the only unit to do so. Scouts: The purpose of the scouts is to be on the lookout for approaching enemies/targets, as well as scanning areas for good concealment locations. Although not filling the role of the sniper, all members of the unit receive the same training, allowing for great flexibility. Ordinance: Holds the team together. Not only are they responsible for communication between all members of the squad, they also manage supplies and plan out how the group will advance or if a return to base is needed. Overall operations: There exist 27 teams (216 individuals, if you're wondering) of sharpshooters, with an additional 300 men in reserve. The large reserves make sense due to the time it takes to recruit and train new members. The battalion has extensive medical and maintenance supports to keep everything going at full throttle during wartime. Demolitions: There exists one demolitions team, rarely called upon for their explosive expertise. Considered the most prestigious non-officer position in the Minarquan armed forces, the team will work with one or more sharpshooter squads at once to sabotage or, if needed, raid an enemy building. Supplies: Sharps have access to a wide range of supplies, which they exploit to its fullest extent. Available supplies include but are not limited to: rifles, anti-tank mines, jerrycans, trucks, plastic explosive, artillery pieces, and camouflage equipment.
