On a cloudless, bright, Tuesday fall morning on September 11th, 2001. It was a normal day until terror struck. Right there at 8:46 AM, American Airlines flight 11 hits the North Tower. At first, people thought it was an accident until 17 minutes later, United Airlines flight 175 hit the South Tower. People then started to panic a lot. The president, George W. Bush, was at Emma E. Booker elementary school. As a result of 2 planes hitting the towers, all the New York airports closed and ordered all planes to land at the closest airport. However, the WTC (World Trade Center) was not the only target, because at 9:38 AM, American Airlines flight 77 hit the Pentagon. After this, people started to think that the White House was the next target, so people evacuated the White House. At 10:05 AM, the South Tower topples. In other words, Collapsed. The White House was a target indeed but the hero's of the White House, the most brave people on this day, United Airlines flight 93 was targeting the White House but unlucky for the hijackers, the passengers on 93 knew what was happening. Todd Beamer along with other passengers, fought back at the hijackers and took over the plane which at 10:10, just 5 minutes after the South Tower collapsed, flight 93 crash landed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. At the same time, the Pentagon partially collapses and then 18 minutes later, the North Tower collapses. As a result of this horrific day, 2,996 people lost their lives including the hijackers. The person behind all of this was Osama Bin Laden. Ever since this day, it has been the CIA and FBI's mission to find and kill Bin Laden. It would later be announced that justice has been served and Bin Laden was found and killed on May 2nd, 2011 after almost 10 years. Thanks for reading all the way.
