"There's hardly anything to do," Iris complains. "Here, I brought you guys some books!" Mom exclaims from the seat across from us, grabbing the from her purse. I roll my eyes with a groan. "Mom, this is a family vacation. Who wants to read?" "Well, technically not yet, because we haven't made it to the resort yet; we're still on the plane," my mom states. She hands me a horror book. I make a face. "I don't like horror books." I mumble. But when I see the face Mom makes when I say that, I begin to read it anyway. As I read, I find out it's about a girl and her imaginary friend. She ends up with sleep paralis and is attracted to the mystery her imaginary buddy holds. She experiences strange things and has to stop it, before it steals her soul. After a while, I put the book down and grab my blanket. I listen to music in my headphones and close my eyes. Then I hear static. And a voice. Evelyn, you don't know what danger you're about to face. Leave now. Before it's too late... I jump and startle Iris. "What?" she asks. "Nothing..." I sigh, taking off my headphones. After twelve hours, I wake up and see it's 9:00 A.M. We've landed, and my family starts to pack their stuff. I do as well, shoving my headphones all the way at the bottom of my backpack. We take the bus to the resort, and the next thing I know, we're in Cape Cod. "Woah! This is cool!" Keya exclaims, flopping onto one of the bunk beds. I like all the decorations, but it just lets off a strange vibe. I go outside by the shore to shake off the feeling. I let the waves flow over my feet and make a mound of sand while I think. Everything feels different now that the school year is over. Now that I'll be in 6th grade, and how we finally go on a family vacation. One that I already don't like. I have to find out what's going on.
