I just moved schools into NHS because I was- uh… because of reasons I do not wish to state. Anyways, the school seems pretty nice. I got a tour of the school by this really nice office lady called Mrs. Baker. She says she spends most of her time behind a computer doing school stuff, which is a shame because she really is lovely. Well, I say that a lot. I guess I just like to see the best in people, although Mrs. Baker *is* really good at making conversation and I told her so as we walked around the school. She said that I wasn’t so bad myself and that most new kids she shows ‘round aren’t usually this confident and open. Back to the present, I am now in my new form room. A bit bigger than the one at my old school, but that’s probably just because I’m not used to it yet. You know when you go to someone else’s place, and it seems pretty big even though it’s something like a two-bedroom flat? Yeah, that feeling. Fifty-eight eyes stare at me (that’s twenty-nine people by the way, so you don’t have to do the maths). Well, almost fifty-eight. There’s these two people- one with long, darkish-lightish-brown hair with a red headband that matches the school uniform and similar brown coloured eyes and the other one with neck-length ginger hair and light green eyes. They sit in the corner next to the lockers and they seem to not really notice me, the ginger-haired one reading a book and the dark-haired one just seeming to be zoned out. I can’t relate; I’m always paying attention- “Hello? Earth to Ashley, Earth to Ashley, are you receiving? Over.” I feel my face burn. Miss Gilbert- my new form tutor- was talking to me but I was zoned out. Okay, fine, I might not have the longest attention span, but I can’t be that bad, can I? I reply confidently with no regret for my actions, “Oh- uh- yes, Miss Gilbert. Sorry.”, Okay, I might not be the most confident person inside but as long as I keep act my positive, cheery attitude up then I should be safe from a repeat from last time… “Okay, then, Ashley. Go sit down in the empty seat to the left of Sola. Sola, put your hand up.”, Miss Gilbert says. The dark-haired person zones back in and, realising the situation, reluctantly raises their hand. Please don’t mind if I get their pronouns wrong, I usually use they/them before I know the person just in case. I go sit down next to her. “Hullo! I’m Ashley Hill, she/her. Nice to meet you! I hope we can be friends!” I say in my widest “We should get to know each other” smile, which drops as I watch them roll their eyes. “Yeah, sure.”, they say. “The name’s Sola Bell, she/her.”
All these characters belong to me and I love them like my cats. Sola Bell: cis female, demiromantic, neptunic. She/Her 11 years old. Year 7 at Nightingale High School (NHS).
