Chapter 18 Minotaur an- WATCH OUT FOR THAT SHELF! ------------------- My breathing comes heavy again and I unclip my bracelet, sla$h!ng at the minotaur. My dagg3r makes a cut and the minotaur is stunned for a bit. I take that moment to run, and I run straight back to Jacob, Havi and Aternus. I skid and Jacob catches me. “Abby, you okay?” “We need to get out of here, like now.” “Why?” Havi asks and the minotaur choses that moment to smash through the door. I jump up as Havi’s eyes widen. I’m pretty sure my eyes are really dark by now. Jacob draws his sw0rd, Havi suddenly has her dagg3r in her hand and Aternus is fumbling for his sw0rd. The monster roars at us and I angle my dagg3r at it. This thing is not k!ll!ng anyone today. I k!lled it once, and I’ll do it again. It then charges at us and I push Jacob out of the way, right before he gets plowed. He staggers backwards. Aternus has his sw0rd out by now and I just feel angry. /It tried to k!ll Jacob. It tried to k!ll someone else that I l0ve./ The minotaur then makes a sharp turn and runs straight towards us. “Run!” Havi yells and I resist the urge to yell out ‘Duh!’ We all run into different directions, which probably wasn’t the best idea. Aternus took off around a shelf behind me, Havi ran into a different aisle, and I am pushing Jacob to the back of the shop. “I’m going!” He yells at me. “Well, go faster! It’s gaining!” I glance over my shoulder and see that the minotaur is purposely targeting us. Great. I push Jacob into an aisle as we accidentally slip and the minotaur gets closer. Now, it’s just me and I turn to face the monster. Of course, I had to make a fool of myself and slip backwards. I land on my bu++. /Ow. Seriously?!/ I jump up and dive into another aisle, the minotaur crashing headfirst into one of the shelves because of how tight my turn was. I almost laugh but then realize that the shelves are falling. Towards me. I run, dodging falling cereal boxes. I trip over a box I didn’t see and get a lucky shot, because the shelves have empty spacing where the cereal would be and the shelf falls around me. The minotaur takes that chance to run to me, and it moves fast across wooden shelves, so I have to get up right away and run -or stumble- out of the disaster area. I almost make it, but then the minotaur somehow grabs ahold of my sweater and pulls me off the ground. I k!ck it into the stomach. It roars and I take that chance to s+ab it in the hand that it’s holding me in. The minotaur drops me onto the ground and I feel my glasses fall off as I hit the ground hard. I feel around with my right hand, which isn’t very effective, considering I am left-handed. Eventually I find my glasses and push them on, expecting my vision to get less blurry, but it only helps a bit. The light seems too bright for my eyes to process. I stumble up and try to raise my head to face the monster. It growls at me and charges at me. I s1a$h at it as it runs towards me. It moves around me and I end up cutt!ng its ch3st. It stares at me as it realizes I cut it. And then dissipates into dust. My energy seems sapped and I stumble, crashing into a wall. I see a blurry Havi, Aternus, and Jacob run towards me. “Abby!” Havi yells, but it sounds disconnected. I try to turn towards my friends, but I pass out, my last sensation of someone catching me with dark, almost black, hair.
