There are currently 33 cats in Skyclan. —— Skyclan lore: - Skyclan is known to be the most violent of the clans, a label they take with great pride. Skyclan warriors are notably the most viciously trained, and the strongest. - Skyclan has been feuding with Riverclan for as long as any cat can remember. Skyclan tends to win most of their battles, but they suffer enough defeats to keep from becoming too cocky. - Skyclan and Windclan have tense relations, due to Windclan’s close allegiance to Riverclan. But they tend to stay on each other’s good sides; Skyclan not wanting to have to fight off two clans at once, and Windclan not wanting to risk their warriors’s safety. - Shadowclan is on more friendly terms with Skyclan than the others, but that’s not saying much. They share a tense formality, and don’t interact unless they have no other choice. - Skyclan notably dances around the warrior code, exploiting loopholes in order to act more ruthless or violent. Many Starclan cats wish to send a message to prevent them from doing this, but there are enough Starclan Skyclan cats that support their traditions of aggression to keep the others from making any change. - Despite their violent nature, many morally questionable Skyclan cats are still admitted into Starclan, since the Starclan council to decide where a cat should go is usually a jury of those who knew the subject in life. And other Skyclan cats see Skyclan culture as perfectly normal. - Starclan Skyclan cats tend not to socialize with cats from other clans even in the afterlife. Their rivalries never seem to die, even in death. - Skyclan is unexpectedly open to new members joining, as long as the cats can prove they will be strong assets to Skyclan. Oniontear (tear as in crying) joined from Windclan, and Hissgar joined from being a kittypet, for example. - Any Skyclan cat who fails to live up to the leader’s expectations of ferocity will likely be exiled, as not to slow the clan down. Though not without fair warning. - In order to avoid this, some gentler Skyclan cats will opt to become a healer instead, since the same ruthlessness is not expected of healers. This is the case for Berrypatch. Orangeleaf advised her as a kit to become a healer apprentice in order to be able to stay in the clan, since she was a very pacifistic and gentle kit. - It’s not just disinterest in violence that can make Skyclan see a cat as not worth the effort of keeping around. They tend to take cats born with disabilities as a sign of weakness, and said cats will often be exiled as well. Orangeleaf avoided this fate by choosing to become a healer. - However, Skyclan cats have a very different perspective on acquired disabilities. Skyclan sees cats who get injured and recover as a sign of incredible strength. Cats with many scars are highly respected as strong warriors, and their clan will work hard to accommodate their needs. - The healers of Skyclan tend to be the most skilled of all the clans, since with how violent this clan is, they need to be good. - Skyclan cats tend to be named after fire motifs or overly edgy sounding things. The thought is that a ferocious name will lead to ferocious warriors. - It’s a common style in Skyclan cats to brush their head fur backwards, in a sort of slicked-back style. This is said to look intimidating, but it really just makes them look like disheveled cat-businessmen. - Exiled Skyclan cats tend to either become rogues, loners, or join Windclan. Rivalries with Riverclan are hard to get rid of, and Shadowclan tends to be very wary of new members, so Windclan is the best option for cats looking for a new home. - Skyclan doesn’t care about its exiled cats joining Windclan. They don’t resent the cats they exile, they just don’t want to deal with them. - Despite their ruthlessness to other clans, Skyclan is very tight-knit internally. Skyclan cats tend to have a great deal of patriotism towards their clan, since they are raised being told that Skyclan is superior to all others. A Skyclan warrior knows that they can trust and rely on their clanmates with their life. If a cat can reach Skyclan’s standards, they will be welcomed into an incredibly close community. - However, betraying their trust will risk shattering a cat’s connection to that community forever. But they are reasonable with standards. They forgive genuine mistakes. It’s purposeful sabotage that becomes an issue. - Skyclan cats deeply value honor. Despite their ferocity, a Skyclan cat won’t kill to win their battles. They will never stoop to such dishonor as murder, unless the cat they are fighting has done something even more dishonorable… - Despite their dislike, Skyclan deeply respects Riverclan. They see Riverclan’s persistence deeply honorable, and are proud to have them as their rival. In their mind, Riverclan keeps their warriors strong. Riverclan does not feel the same way. - Skyclan has a unique system of determining hierarchy, which will be expanded upon in the comic.
These are for my comic, Eternal Apprentice.
