New in 1.2: X - Replaced the missile with a new close-range weapon called the blade. Missiles and boomerangs are now limited ammunition secondary weapons. Missiles now fire with rockets and the boomerang fires with the spread pulse. Also added the super spread shot which turns the spread pulse into a powerful ricochet attack. Improved the graphics on stage 2, added clouds and dunes. Added a fancy picture of the ship on the title screen. Updated the controls screen. Variables such as Nova Bomb ammo appear and disappear to make the screen less cluttered. Various tweaks to weapon power and weapon upgrades. Added many sound effects. New in 1.1: Stage 2 - Defeat the alien fleet on their desert homeworld. N - Nova Bomb Boomerang weapon Ship can now move in all directions. Bugs/'Features': -Sometimes aliens get stuck on the sides of the screen. -Sometimes enemies aren't cleared properly from the screen after a game over. -Power-ups occasionally appear in the wrong location. -The weapons aren't very balanced at the moment. -There are numerous debugging commands left in. If you're getting stuck, the easiest weapons to use at the moment are the machine gun (z) and spread pulse (c). If you're getting swamped, setting off a nova bomb (n) will usually clear the screen of enemies. The game seems to run very slowly on machines without a proper graphics card. History: -The initial challenge was to make a playable Space Invaders style game in an hour. At this point there was only the ship, rocket, blue aliens and green aliens. -Another 11 or so hours of work results in what is presented now. The game can be played through to completion although I may add some more features in future. -1.1: many more hours of work and tinkering. Lots of little changes, improvements in animations as well as a second level and proper ending to the game. -1.2: some additional graphics, gameplay tweaks, fixes and a few new weapons and power-ups
