So Our weekly English homework is to write about 100 (as a writer I can barely hold it under 300) words of what the theme/task for that week is. Fiction or not, we choose. This Week we were going to write inspired by this picture, and the theme was “RUN!” and I wanna share! Cuz English isn’t our first language and I got really proud of it. WARNING: Protagonist faints/gets a concussion.
The end of the tunnel is so close, yet far away. I’ve never been so close to the exit. I dont have much breath left but I can’t stop now, this is my only chance, I- One moment I am looking at the exit, the other my vision is tilted sideways and looking up from the ground. The moment I realise what just happened the pain Shocks through me and darkens my vision completely. My consciousness floats and dives for a while. My head hurts. Everything is too white. There’s two persons beside my bed. “You got a concussion when pacified” the first person says. The other, standing, sighs. “You really thought you could escape?”. “H-huh?” Is all I can get out of me. My voice sounds raspy. And then It all comes back. The escape plan. The corridors. The exit. I got a glimpse of The outside. No one has ever come that far, not even the director. No one but me and…grandma. They took her away. Just before she could reach The outside. Now I’ll probably be taken away too. I didn’t say goodbye to anyone. I’m sorry, I–I really thought I could do it- “Welcome back. My apologies, but pacifying was the safest, fastest, and more efficient solution.” That voice. The director. I can’t scream, that would make my head hurt more so I just give her a furious look. “You just couldn’t get your hands dirty, are you too weak for a child?” I try to shout, but my raspy voice makes me begin to cough. She doesn’t even blink. “Give the patient some water.” She calmly orders the healer and he nods and quickly walks out of the room. The moment we are alone she turns to me. “I have an offer.” She says and a hologram of the Exit appears between us from her HoloMac Gen26. My eyes widen in horror. It was that one glimpse of the Exit I had, recorded through my chip, but how? “You really thought your friend could override our chips?” “What have you done with him?” I hissed “Nothing. Yet. You see, that’s actually up to you.” “What do you mean? Are you going to blackmail me?” “Calm down, Child. And lets call it an offer, shall we? I heard you are good at running? Now, what I want you to do is simple…” (Ooh cliffhanger *Suspence music plays*)
