I did it on the prompt : is it a bad time to tell you I’m claustrophobic? Time limit : 3minutes Cabin: mythology vs thriller I wrote …..668 words ! Here it is ! : The sun was setting over the Valley of Aethis, casting long shadows across the rocky path. At the far end of the valley stood the Temple of Zorath, its towering spires reaching into the sky like jagged teeth. Inside, guarded by a labyrinth of traps and deadly creatures, lay the Heart of the Ancients, a gemstone said to grant its wielder unimaginable power. And of course, it was up to Berek the Bold and his ever-loyal companion, Darla the Wise, to retrieve it. Berek’s massive boots crunched across the stones as he led the way. The faint smell of moss and damp earth filled the air, and the wind howled through the crags, as if warning them to turn back. "You know, I’ve been thinking," Darla said, her voice surprisingly calm for someone about to break into an ancient temple filled with dangers unknown. "Is now a bad time to tell you that I’m claustrophobic?" Berek froze. "Wait, what?" "Claustrophobic. You know… I get a little panicky in tight spaces. Small rooms. Narrow tunnels. Caves." Berek stared at her, his wide, sword-wielding frame casting an imposing shadow. "We’re about to enter a temple, Darla. I mean, that’s kind of what these places are—full of tight spaces. I thought that was why you signed up for this!" "I didn’t think it would be this tight," she said, gesturing toward the entrance of the temple. A narrow stone archway, barely wide enough for Berek’s shoulders. "You didn’t mention the archways were going to be this close." Berek scratched his head. "Oh, come on! It’s just a doorway. You’ve fought trolls, dragons, and a kraken with one hand tied behind your back. You can handle a little archway." Darla’s eyes flicked to the entrance, her fingers twitching as if to cast a spell to widen it. "Look, I can handle a kraken, Berek. But this is a door. I’m telling you, this is the kind of thing that gets to me. The walls get closer, and I start feeling... trapped. You get me?" Berek grunted, trying to hide his amusement. "You’re the one who wanted to be a hero, Darla." "I didn’t think heroism would come with immense stress about doorways!" she huffed, stepping back a bit. "Maybe we can find another way in? A secret passage, or—" The ground shook beneath them. From the depths of the temple, a rumble echoed through the stones. "Oh, no," Berek said with a grin. "That’s probably Zorath’s final test. Whoever is worthy to enter must face the Great Stone Guardian." Darla’s eyes widened. "The Great Stone Guardian? What is that?" Berek’s grin grew wider. "It’s the last obstacle. A giant stone golem who’ll test your strength, your wit, and your—" Before he could finish, the ground erupted with a deafening roar. A massive stone figure, as tall as the temple itself, emerged from the earth, its limbs cracking with every movement. The Golem’s glowing eyes fixed on them, its gargantuan hand reaching out as if to crush them both. Darla’s face turned pale. "Oh, great. This is just perfect." Berek stood tall, drawing his sword. "No time to waste! We fight, Darla!" "Wait, wait, wait!" Darla yelped, her hands raised in a panic. "You said the test was about strength, right? How about we test my ability to avoid things instead? I’m not exactly looking to get smashed to bits by a giant stone fist!" The Golem swung its arm with incredible force, sending a shockwave through the air. Berek leaped forward with a battle cry, charging straight at the stone giant’s legs. Darla, on the other hand, was already ducking behind a boulder, her eyes darting nervously. "Okay, okay. Think, think… Ah! Of course! It’s just like the time I had to talk my way out of a direwolf pack." Berek dodged another massive punch and shouted, "Darla, help!" "Right, right!" She closed her eyes for a moment, her hands weaving through the air in complex patterns. "Zorath, listen up! This is a hero’s test, right? But you gotta understand something—being trapped in a tiny doorway with claustrophobia is far worse than facing a giant stone monster!" The Golem paused mid-swing, its enormous head tilting in confusion. "That’s right, buddy," Darla continued, her voice gaining confidence. "I’m not afraid of you. But I am afraid of getting stuck in a cave with no way out. You want to be a test of strength and wit? Fine. But do you know how much mental strength it takes to go through a tiny door without losing it?" The Golem’s glowing eyes blinked. The enormous stone body stiffened. "That’s right, it’s a mind game, baby!" Darla shouted, her eyes narrowing as the Golem halted its movements entirely. "You wanna see who’s worthy? Then try not giving me a panic attack while I save our hides." ( continued in notes and credits )
The Golem’s body creaked, and then—just as suddenly as it had appeared—it crumbled into a pile of rocks at their feet. Berek blinked in shock, his sword still raised. "I… I think you did it." Darla, breathing heavily, wiped her forehead. "I think I did, too. You’re welcome, by the way . Berek stared at her, then broke into a wide grin. "Well, if we ever find another cave, I’m making you go first." Darla sighed, trying to hide the flush of embarrassment. "I’m going to pretend you didn’t just say that."
