Hello! Welcome back to lesson two! This lesson may be a bit short. Just a couple of topics to cover. But here we go! 1. Overlapping shapes. Overlapping can help you draw one thing in front of the other and understand the sizes between objects. When you practice this, sketch EVERYTHING out. E.g. you may draw a flower with behind a rock originating from one direction without sketching the plant out, and stick the base of the stem on the side of the rock slightly off from the flower itself. It's subtle, but when you or someone else looks long enough, you'll see that they don't connect! This is also a very simple perspective thing to practice As you can see in the left, there are big shapes overlapping the smaller one behind it. Draw a big less than/greater than symbol ( < ) starting from the horzion line going up or down and draw shapes from smallest to largest. Not too many though! And don't smoosh them together! Keep them spread out for clarity. 2. Above and Below If you look at the left drawing, You'll notice that you can see the top of the shapes more than the bottom of the shapes. Why is that? It's because I drew it below the horizon Line/ eye level. In the middle doodle, you can see the cube below and above their eye level. When you see the top of an object, you're looking at it from above, and when you see the bottom of the object. Knowing this helped me SO MUCH when drawing shelves, heads and more! Pay attention to the objects around you to help grasp where they sit perspective wise. 3. Wrapping up A small tip for sketching curved objects, like cylinders. most of the curve happens on the sides if you look at a cup and visualize the curve, you'll see it starts on the sides rather than the middle unless you change the perspective you see it in. Draw angled lines from the sides and a straight line in the middle. Connect the two, and smooth it all out. It's small, but it makes a nice difference! It can even help you draw necklaces!
Small lesson, But be patient please! We are getting somewhere! Keep practicing lesson one and two and we'll build something on lesson three :] I did not mean to use a grey background T-T
