Pichu was in the crowd, waiting patiently for his first reaping ever. If he hadn’t played Mario cart before the reaping, he would have been unable to sit still. His tail swished impatiently, waiting for the reaping to be over. He just wanted to return to his iPad and doom scroll on the sweet, sweet internet. His mother had told him to put his Nintendo switch away so he had packed it in his bag just in case he was actually reaped. Just then, the announcers started their yearly yapping, yapping on and on about the Hunger Games. To be honest, Pichu was getting a bit hungry too, so he pulled out prepacked Cheetos and started munching them loudly. Others in the crowd gave him the side eye, but other then that payed no attention. Pichu had no idea what the Hunger Games was because he never payed attention to the announcers due to playing video games so he wasn’t really that nervous. Not to mention he had no real life friends to explain what they were, only his online Fortnite friends. “Pichu” He looked up from his cheetos in confusion, only to realize everyone was staring at him. "W-what??" He stuttered in confusion. "Get on the stage right now!" hissed a cat behind him. Pichu stumbled onto the stage, cheetos in hand, in utter confusion. Name after name, kids from his district also lined up on the stage, until finally, the announcer yelled "That's it folks! May the odds ever be in your favor!!" Then the people, what others called these kids "tributes", for something he didn't know for were all pushed into separate rooms. In the fancy room, he saw his mother and his siblings, all of them with tears in their eyes. This reminded Pichu of the day his father never returned, all of them understood something he did not. Without warning, his mother tackled him into a tight hug, saying through tears "We'll miss you, please, please try your best to return to us ok?" His siblings also joined into the group hug, with his adult brother hugging them tightly, as if he never wanted to let go. Finally, his family relented and let go of him. Pichu looked at his eldest brother, who was usually the most steadfast and composed of his family, barely able to hold back his tears. He looked at Pichu with a serious expression, using the gentlest voice he could, "Listen Pichu, I need you, to do anything you can to return to us, your in grave danger. When the timer sounds, you must run away from the others." His sister interjected "Don't trust anyone else in the arena, that could cost you your life." As a Peacekeeper led him away from his family, his mother yelled from further, and further away, "Goodbye Pichu, please try to return." As the train slid further and further away, Pichu was still in confusion, slightly worried. //Am i in danger?? //Will i ever see my family again? //I never found out what happened to my dad!! // Through his tears, he unzipped his blue backpack, pulling out his Nintendo Switch, the last thing he had before he was taken from his family. He tried to connect to internet but realized that the train didn't have internet. "Dang it." He had to settle with grinding Pokemon Sword and Shield, looking for the last 10 shiny Pokemon he still needed to complete his shiny hunt. He played until he fell asleep from exhaustion, sleeping the rest of the train ride.
