So don't let that happen! lore: So after Chemical Plant in Ultimate Dash, Sonic has all 7 time stones but Eggman has the master emerald, which unlike in sonic 3, eggman has learned how to utilize it correctly, making this a much tougher fight than Sonic and Tails thought. Sonic accidentaly triggers the 7 time stones which transform him into Cosmic Sonic, and he immediately heads to eggman at about Mach 17 ( 13043.6 mph ) to beat him. Eggman is bent on utter world destruction, and mainly taking down Sonic. With the Master Emerald in play, Eggman's ultimate weapon, the Molecular Destruction Ray or MDR, this device will produce a gamma ray burst that will wipe everything on the molecular level, completely vaporizing Mobius. So don't lose!
btw sonic ultimate dash itself takes place before Sonic CD, but after Sonic 1. so basically this is cosmic sonic and to keep it simple he utilizes the time stones and he can warp time itself at ease. Eggman has the master emerald which is why he isnt cooked yet. NOTE: the sprites for cosmic sonic were custom made by ME, so if you wanna use them, ya gotta ask me.
