milkweedbloom (otherwise known as Milky) is a medicine cat who was trapped in a fire when they were younger, this hindered their sense of smell and touch, so they were deemed "Unable to serve as a warrior" but they needed to do something to do, so they became a medicine cat. To figure out which herb is which they must taste them, this is why their paws and nose is stained.
