dont mind the really horrid thumbnail. i wrote tjis in school so while i was originally planning to make art for this uh... i js wanna post it tbh. so you get this mess .. Vera flicked her tail back and forth. This was sooooo stupid! It's not like she was going to be called in the reaping anyway. Her father had certainly made sure of that. She's rich and her dad has a government position. Why wasn't she allowed to skip? Plus her personality isn't appreciated here! Last year when she said, "Go girlie! Eliminate those losers!" most cats were upset with her for like, a week. Apparently that isn't a very appreciated response when you've just been reaped. But she was friends with Kalam! Kinda.... It should've been fine! "Hey Kade? Do you think anyone interesting is going to be reaped this year?" Vera wanted someone exciting! Last year's game were insanely boring and no one was cool. Her boyfriend turned to her a look of sheer horror on his face. "Oh what is it Kade? You look really stupid right now. You should see your face!" She let out a small cackle. "Ashley do you see his face!?" Ashley bore an expression very similar to that of Kade's. "Vera..." she started. "VERA GUERRA!" No longer distracted by Kade's face or her own thoughts about the stupidity of the reaping, Vera could hear her name being called. This being the third time in the past two minutes but of course she hadn't heard the first two times. "VERA GUERRA. PLEASE REPORT TO THE STAGE IMMEDIATELY OR YOUR FAMILY WILL BE FINED." "WHAT?" Vera screamed. What do you mean she had been reaped? Obviously this was a mistake. A prank. Someone in her school must've slipped her name into the bowl thinking it'd be oh so funny to spook her. There was no possible way that this could be true. But it was. There were peacekeepers heading right towards her and everything. Even if it was a prank or a mistake she'd have to walk onto the stage anyways. How? How could this have happened? She made her way through the alleys of people. Some stood in completely indifference. Some cried. Most just looked sympathetic. Sad that another cat had to die, maybe a little sad that it was her, but mainly just sad about the circumstance. She could even see one cat a few years her senior concealing a smile. Vera knew that cat from school but not once had she learned their name. Why was someone so filled with hatred for her that they grinned at her demise? Was Vera hated? Now standing on the stage she shook. In shock? In anger? In every conceivable emotion? She was upset with her parents, for not saving her from The Games. She was upset at Kade and Ashley for not letting her know sooner, as if that could've saved her. She was upset with herself for even agreeing to go to the reaping this morning, as if they would throw her name back in the bowl like at school assemblies when the prize winners weren't there. And then she was sitting at the train station, waiting for her family and friends to say their final goodbyes. Or well, mainly she was waiting for the peacekeepers to come. Surely they would arrive and let her know this was all a mistake? Tell her that it was infact a prank. Oh it was just that cat smiling earlier who wanted her dead. And they've been thrown in jail. And Vera you get a million dollars as compensation for this horrible ordeal! We're so sorry this ever happened to you! Everything was a mistake. It had to be a mistake. Her parents would come in and tell her that everyone besides her father is being fired from the local government. That they would buy her a pony or a new waterbottle for her collection or something. That they love her and they'll beg for her forgiveness for letting this happen. Ultimately, the peacekeepers only ever came to escort her to her train car, and her parents never did.
