It's been 5 years since the Pet Cafe started, and since it has the potential to be ending this year, I felt it most appropriate to make this. Sorry that this is a long text. Growing up, I enjoyed to draw a lot, it would usually be Pokemon though as that was my main interest as a child. I never thought I'd do it seriously, and it was just a hobby to me. Then, in lockdown, I decided to go on scratch as I hadn't used my account much since making it. And then I found the Pet Cafe. I had never imagined someone doing art on the internet in such a way, or using scratch as a means to get it out there. I entered for the first time, although I admit I can't remember for what character it was. Over time I started to look for other artists on scratch, and found a whole community I never knew existed. It was around this time as well when I got other socials, and started to talk to some people from this site on those apps. I continued to enter for the Pet Cafe whenever a new design I liked came out, and even designed a potential candidate (I still have the physical sketches) As I kept entering, and kept talking to the other artists, I decided to try making other art, and entered other DTA or character giveaways, and built up an array of OCs. I started to make animations on scratch, but ended up moving accounts. Not a lot stayed when I did, but it felt nice to have a smaller place on this site to talk with my artist friends and draw and animate. I kept entering the Pet Cafe for a bit, but I slowly stopped using the site until I eventually forgot about it and my account. Without scratch, I kept drawing on my own, and kept talking to my artist friends. The only thing I missed from this site was the Pet Cafe, and Sprout, my original inspiration for drawing. But I kept on. It was a nice distraction from school, but eventually I found myself with more in person friends and stopped thinking about scratch. Occasionally I'd remember Sprout, and that kept me motivated to draw. Over time, my OCs developed and I wrote stories for them. Now, they've become a larger project, called "Radmina". I'm no longer in school, and making Radmina and it's stories, alongside all sorts of projects, is what I do. But I'm not done yet. After moving on from scratch, I started to gain interest in vtubers, and used them as my main learning point on design. I've started to lean into character and outfit design because of this, and hope that one day I could become a vtuber as well. Me and my friends are working on a channel called Idiocracy, in which we pretty much play games very badly and are working on some animated story to go with it, as most of us are artists. It's really fun and we're all really stupid so it's great. However, I'm also working on some other projects. First of all, there's Rejects, an indie animation made by Small Hollow. I'm one of the very few artists for the show, but it took me so ridiculously long to audition because I kept forgetting that I gained the nickname of "the one who forgot auditions", although that's expired now. There's also Fossa Nova, a Magical Girl comic with two groups in it. There's Chroma Magik, which are all middle-aged women that have to deal with being an adult alongside a magical girl, and the Caffeine Girls, which are all university students that operate at night whilst procrastinating actually doing their school work. (It's mostly a comedy/slice of life thing) And then, one day, I remembered about this website. I made a throwaway account to see how you were doing since you were my initial inspiration, and when I found that you had opened the Pet Cafe for 2025 and had still been doing it for all those years, even when I wasn't on scratch, and so decided to find my way back into this account, and made a post about my (albeit probably only brief) return, and decided to look around the site again when I saw that you'd made a new post, and so made this. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You inspired me to draw as more than just a hobby, you inspired me to create and persist. You helped me to come out of my shell, to make friends who were in the same boat. I've looked up to you for so long, and it feels surreal to be here again. I have no idea what you've been through over these years, but I at least wanted to let you know all the good that you've caused for me. Even if the Pet Cafe, if you leave this site and never look back, I'll be here, on scratch or other places. Even if you don't remember me, you've done so much for me, so if you ever need help, advice or just want to talk, I'll be here to help you like you've done for me, and likely many others, without even knowing. Sincerely, Nox (the_noxaci), formerly -_SilverClouds_- or TheMemeGodess. (Non-parasocially of course)
Character design belongs to @-cafecat- I just threw my heart onto the sidewalk yikes will also be uploading this art onto the house of toys because scratch destroys the quality 1 - i haven't drawn a furry in years dude 2 - beans are more of a throwback to the original sprout design 3 - tried to design an outfit based on what was provided on the actual reference 4 - eye on the shoulder and handle are both watermarks, eye as an outfit watermark (because i have to do that now) and handle as art watermark i don't really like how it looks but i literally haven't drawn furry art in years so it's the best i can do for now
