The economic state of Purrqing cannot be ignored. Currently, Purrqing's economy relies heavily on the Catjou Road, a major trade route, and the heavy agricultural industries. With the succession of the Jiuchanghe and CPC states in 980, fertile land and sea trade access was lost. Thus, Empress Tsao has planned a variety of measures to allow economic growth: Open borders with Kaigoku Increase cross-strait relations with Naru Industrialize in the coastal regions while still keeping a significant agricultural industry to facilitate long-term growth. Increase military presence on the Catjou Road to enforce lawful travel. Increase infrastructure and create the Committee of Feline Requests (CFR) to facilitate discussion of the needs of the felines.
More worldbuilding stuff: The average cat lives 60-70 years naturally, with a feline reaching biological maturity around 15-16 years old. Compared to other species, the feline race is rather feeble, only growing to about 3-4 feet tall at most. However, the enormous population of felines allows the continued existence of the cat race despite the physical and mental strength of other races. The standard diet of felines consists of white or brown Catsmin rice (native to the Catjou region), various non-evolved/anthropomorphic fish (either farmed or fished traditionally), various small animals, and vegetables. Felines do not need to eat large portions to feel full. The average female feline gives birth to between four and six kittens per litter and can reproduce shortly after. The Meowist religion has a significant impact on many aspects of feline government, lifestyle, and more. Different interpretations of the religion exist, but I'm going over the one that Purrqing follows (Western meowist) The Meowist religion promotes the co-existence of all species in the world. The according to Meowist text (known as the Katshu), world was created by a variety of different dieties which represent different aspects of the world (peace, love, war, land, sea, etc) and each diety appears to the individual as their species/race, leading there to be misunderstandings to what the true meaning of the dieties and their appearances. Followers of the Meowist religion believe in the afterlife, If one knowingly strays from Meowist teachings, they will be reincarnated instead of ascending to heaven. Only through a virtuous life can one transcend the mortal cycle. Forgiveness can be retained by being consciously guilty for one's sinful actions. According to scripture, cats are the purest mortal form before acension. Meowists also believe in divine intervention and divine compatiblism - the will of the gods combined with the input of the world and individual creates the observer's subjective experience. According to Meowist scriptures, the feline race was chosen as a species that exemplified Meowist ideals and thus were chosen to assist the other nations around it as directed by the deity of peace, Yao. Yao guarantees and guides the leader of the nation and chose the most worthy family in the year 025 to lead the feline race. This lineage carries to the current leader of Purrqing, Empress Tsao, who was the daughter and only child of Emporer Lin. There have only been two empresses in the history of Purrqing. Common traditions for those who follow the Meowist religion are: Praying to various deities through shrines Following the Meowist laws - Killing, adultery, stealing, and bad things are generally frowned upon. Customary traditions such as thanking the species who is served as a meal before partaking in it. - Meowists believe that the killing of another species for food is a regrettable but necessary practice for survival. Apologies and thanks to the deity of birth, Chu, are customary. Several holidays are celebrated in the Meowist religion, such as the Festival of Remembernce, which is a week-long festival that celebrates the creation of the world and the good deities that inhabit it.
