(written on March 19, 2025) Scratch has always been a great place to get creative, make cool projects, and connect with others. It used to feel exciting. Like everyone was here for the fun of making things. But lately… something just feels off. These days, it seems like people care more about fame than fun. The Trending page is packed with low-effort projects, burying the ones that actually deserve the spotlight. Some even exploit glitches just to get on there, which makes it even worse. Toxicity, ads, and hacking are becoming bigger problems. Spamming, moderation, and mass-reports are starting to get worse too. Scratch doesn’t feel as fun as it used to. But even with all that, there’s still a lot of good here. Amazing projects still exist, waiting to be found. There are still creative, passionate people who genuinely care about making cool stuff. Scratch Design Studio, community contests, and fun collaborations are still happening. Scratch isn’t over yet, and we should have hope for the future, but we shouldn't overlook the issues and problems. So, is Scratch still fun? Is it getting better or worse? The platform has changed, and not always for the better. But it’s still possible to save it. The heart of Scratch has always been its community, the people who create, support, and inspire each other. If we focus on creativity over clout, on uplifting good projects instead of unoriginal concepts, maybe we can bring back the fun. Scratch is what we make of it. So in the end, whether it improves or declines isn’t just up to the platform itself, it’s up to all of us. Music is An Ending by Toby Fox (i'm not quitting, just so you know.)
