ANOTHER OF MY FAVE CHAPS!! chap 11! I'll work on chap 12 now :3
CHAP 11 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finally the day came. It was the day of the dance. Kids rushed from their last class to their rooms, everyone chattering. I walked out of my biology class with Lizzy, looking for Syd and Carmen. We were supposed to meet in our room to help each other get ready. Lizzy said she looked for them and then pushed me off to get our things ready. I opened the door to our room and saw Sydney on my bed with a devious smile on her face. "So." She said. She held up her hand and dark smoke whirled around it. "Let us talk." She continued as she rubbed her hands together like an evil scientist. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You know, I forgot to tell you about our powers, and trust me, your mind will blow. Syd and I are as different as night and day. LITERALLY. Instead of fading like a normal legacy's powers should have, apparently, the children of the 7's powers went UP. Jake got lightning and could fly. He could control it pretty well. Candice got her mom's charm speak and could be pretty scary if you think about it. Carmen can summon gems from the ground and the dead, and her sister, Izzy who is 9, can change into any animal and has pretty good skills with a bow and arrow. Lizzy can control fire and fix almost anything. Her brothers, well, we have no idea where they are. BUT, we do know they are alive somewhere. Depressing, right? Wait till you hear about my brother. (AUTHORS NOTE: I am going to make a separate project for that :) My main power was healing. Syd's was destruction. Get it? Day and Night? Ah, nevermind. After that we could do almost anything. Run at Mach 3? You got it. Fly? Yep. Freeze, burn, or drown something? You bet. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I sat on my bed and she tossed me a pillow. I grabbed it and sat criss-crossed so I faced her. "So, you're going with Jake, huh?" Sydney said, her voice dripping with sly amusement. "I hope Lacey doesn't try anything nasty. But if she does, you know I have your back." I sighed. "I know you do." It felt weird. She was supposed to be the "evil" one of us, but she could be a pretty nice sister when she was trying to protect me. "I just don't want anything to go wrong. You know I hate drama." Sydney shrugged, a devious smile tugging at her lips. "Drama makes things interesting, don't you think? But don’t worry. I'll make sure Lacey doesn’t ruin your night." I hugged her. "Now we need to get ready." She said and took my shoulders and shook them. "They are probably coming." "Too late." We looked at the door and there were an angry Lizzy and Carmen. We both started to laugh. Then we came to our senses and started to get ready, for the dance was tonight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our room turned into a fashion nightmare. There were dresses spread out, shoes, and Carmen's and Lizzy's makeup items. Syd and I were doing our hair and our very simple makeup. I curled my hair into waves and put it into a ponytail. Syd straightened hers and let it fall on her shoulders. We had our dresses picked out and were waiting for Lizzy and Carmen to come out. First came Lizzy. She was wearing a red and orange maxi dress with little flame decorations on the bottom. She put her hair in 2 braids and put one over her shoulder. "Wow, you looked great!" I said. "Thank you Brook!" She tried to curtsy and failed. Carmen was dressed in an emerald green dress that went up to her knees. They were little triangle cuts on the sides. Her hair was in a loose bun and curly bangs fell from her face. "You look great too!" Syd exclaimed. Carmen did a curtsy and succeeded. Then Syd and I changed. I wore a light yellow dress, for my power "day." Syd wore a midnight blue dress, her power, "night." "We look great and we will rock tonight!" I said. Syd put her arms around me and Lizzy, and I put mine around her and Carmen. "We will." Syd said. She turned to me. "And one of us WILL be having a GREAT time!" she replied. She said this like she would kill anyone that got in my way, and knowing her, I could assume she would. I heard a knock on the door. When I opened it, I was surprised to see Jake, in his crisp suit, standing there. He scratched the back of his head. "I was wondering if you wanted to walk to the dance together?" He said nervously. "I-I would love that!" I said, equally nervous. He held out his hand and I took it. "We'll get there ourselves, now you two go and have fun!" Sydney said. I looked back and smiled at her and I could swear I saw a flicker of darkness in her eyes. I ignored it and walked out the door with Jake, hand in hand, having one of the best moments of my life. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
