These are cat-ified designs for characters from EPIC: The Musical! The designs were inspired by @LeafstarOfSilverpelt's catified designs, so go check those ones out too! My designs are based on the characters' official designs, popular fan designs, @LeafstarOfSilverpelt's designs, and my own ideas! Each of the gods is a different kind of wildcat, so that they're catlike but also different from the normal mortals. In EPIC's canon designs, each god also has a "glow color" that shows up when they use their powers. I included that in these designs too, so each of the gods' refs has a version with and without their glow. Finished designs: Odysseus - Design notes: This one is pretty similar to @LeafstarOfSilverpelt's design, and is a pretty simple design overall Penelope - Design notes: Penelope is a chocolate colorpoint. I tried to make her look elegant, and incorporated an olive leaf pattern into her tail bands Telemachus - Telemarketing is a warm colorpoint tabby, which combines aspects of his mom's design (colorpoint) and his dad's design (tabby). Both of his parents have a decent amount of white too, so I gave him a bunch of white markings. This also helped his heterochromia work better! Eurylochus - Design notes: THIS ART ACTUALLY LOOKS SO GOOD. Design aside, I'm super happy with how the base turned out! He's also pretty similar to the original design, but I made all his colors darker so he looks more unique. Athena - Design notes: Athena is a cheetah! I thought this would fit well with her lithe and elegant vibes, as well as with her quickthought ability! She's got armor and a wing-shaped cloak (pretty similar to her human design). The armor is technically removable, but she's rarely without it Poseidon - Design notes: Poseidon is a tiger. I actually really love @LeafstarOfSilverpelt's design for Poseidon, so I didn't change much about it. I did do some different stripe patterns though, and I gave him the three pointy stripes on his sides to look like gills (which is a feature included on his canon design) Zeus - I made Zeus a lion, which seemed very fitting for him. It's very powerful and masculine, and the mane worked great for putting lightning bolts in. Pretty happy with this design Calypso - I did Calypso as a European wildcat. These cats are fairly similar in size an look to house cats, which I thought fit because Calypso isn't a major god, and Ody thought she was a mortal at first (but last I checked goddesses can't die!). Most of her accessories are things that could be found on her tropical island (shells and flowers), except for her anklets. These anklets are pretty, but are also reminiscent of shackles, symbolizing how she is trapped on her island. Aeolus ] - My Aeolus design is an ocelot, because they're smaller and more cat-sized, they have a similar pattern to the Winions (which are rusty-spotted cats), and I could add some fun cloud-shaped spots! Plus I just liked the vibes Aphrodite - Aphrodite is a marbled cat, because they have very pretty marbled patterns that I thought would work well for her. Hera - I did Hera as a snow leopard, because they look majestic and I could play around with her leopard spots as the eyes of peacock feathers (which are one of Hera's symbols) It was kind of hard to figure out how best to incorporate the peacock pattern, and I ended up having the dark patch on her back look like feathers and having the spots be the eyes. Not entirely happy with this design, but it's okay WIP: Polites (light brown tabby cat) Hermes (caracal) Hephaestus (lynx) To-do: Apollo (African golden cat) Ares (cougar) Circe (golden rosetted cat) Polyphemus Tiresias Scylla Antinous Perimedes (ginger cat) Elpenor (tuxedo cat) Lotus eaters (sand cat) Winions (rusty-spotted cat) Background crew
Design inspiration from @LeafstarOfSilverpelt Characters from EPIC: The Musical by Jorge Rivera-Herrans I drew the domestic cat/mortal designs on my phone and the wildcat/god designs on my computer, so they look slightly different. Also, I feel like this project has improved my cat drawing skills so much! I think it improved I draw legs in particular. I was looking at a lot of references while drawing the wildcats, and the repetition of drawing a lot of cats helped too
