(Y'all, I was bored so I made a whole species lol) Introduction: Solaras and Lunaries are an original guardian species made by me, @woolykit. They're from a planet called Vishna. On Vishna, there is one continent with two lands. Fiera, and Nocta. Fiera is home to the lively guardians of the sun. Nocta is home to the nocturnal guardians of the moon. Vishna is a beautiful planet home to many species of wildlife. Our friends here are what keep the balance. They’re our Yin and Yang. Solaras: Background: A Solara is a fiery creature from the land of Fiera. Solaras are most commonly female. When a male Solara is born, they raise it well and then let it loose from the city, banned from ever returning. Personality and mannerisms: Solaras are vain, and tend to spend a lot of time looking at themselves in any reflective surface they can find. Traditions: Solaras decide their queen through a once-in-a-decade beauty contest. The most beautiful Solara gets a unique mirror passed down through generations of Solara queens, made of a rare metal that can no longer be found. Solaras protect and worship the sun as their god. Every Solara is named after something sun related (ex: Flare, Blaze, Dawn, etc) Physical characteristics: Solaras tend to come in vivid colors of reds, oranges, and yellows. Their hair and the fluff on their tails tend to look and act like fire. Solaras always have yellow eyes with pale yellow sclera, a darker yellow iris, and a vivid dandelion yellow pupil. Their hands and feet are hooves and they’re a similar species to deer. They tend to dress in ancient Greek clothing and every Solara wears something blue as a sign of respect for their counterparts, the Lunaries. Lunaries: Background: A Lunary is a dedicated, nocturnal creature from the country of Nocta. Lunaries are almost always Male. If a female is born, they raise it and release it. Personality and mannerisms: Lunaries tend to be quiet and rarely speak, even to each other. The only time you can guarantee hearing a Lunary speak is on the night of the full moon, their night of prayer. Traditions: Lunaries decide their king through a contest of strengths. The king gets a golden eye mask made of the softest wool of the golden sheep. Lunaries protect and worship the moon as their god, and they are always named after the constellation on the side of their tail that they’re given at birth by the moon. (Ex: Ursa, Canis, Orion, etc.) Physical characteristics: Lunaries come in darker colors of blues and purples with silver speckles/hair. They always wear a face mask because Lunaries have powerful hypnosis in their eyes that they can’t control without physically restraining it. They have lavender eyes with a dark purple spiral starting in the center. Their hands and feet are hooves and they’re a similar species to deer. All Lunaries also have a scorpion-like stinger on the end of their tail filled with a powerful sedative. Like Solaras, Lunaries tend to wear clothes from ancient Greece, always wearing a yellow or orange item as a show of respect to the Solaras. How they interact: Solaras and Lunaries tend to tolerate each other, though mingling with the other side is difficult due to differing sleep schedules. (Solaras coming out in the day and Lunaries coming out at night) They have a meeting every year for each eclipse, checking in on how each other is doing. They help if the other species needs it and let the other species help them when they need it. Both species know that if one of them dies, all chaos will break loose. Both species reproduce in a homosexual way, having kids with their own gender. This means that having a relationship with the other species is frowned upon, even if it isn’t an official rule. Eggs: Both Solaras and Lunaries lay eggs as part of the reproduction cycle. Lunary eggs are darker with silver swirls and pale yellow stars and moons. Solara eggs are lighter with a big yellow sun. What happens to the banished: The banished kids of the Solaras and the Lunaries have a separate country called Eclissi where they live intermingled. The banished have similar traits to the other species, with the banished female Lunaries showing some signs of vanity, and banished male Solaras tend to be quiet and thoughtful. They’re all friendly with each other, even though Eclissi isn’t a very big country. Closely related to: Solaras and Lunaries are closely related to deer and other equine species, despite being Anthropomorphic, they can both drop to all fours to run much faster if needs be. Lore and History: Solaras and Lunaries were once rival species. They made a truce during the Great War 1000 years ago, during which Eclissi got too large and the people within became vengeful. Solaras and Lunaries came together to defeat Eclissi and have yet to see the error in their ways of banishing people to Eclissi. Social Structure: The social structure is different for both species, though they are both Monarchies. For example, the vain Solaras tend to have a lot of miners to gather gems and shiny stones, while the quiet Lunaries tend to have a lot of farmers, tending to the land that they were blessed with. Another difference is for Solaras the queen changes once every ten years, meanwhile with Lunaries, the king can be challenged anytime by anyone brave enough to challenge his hypnosis. Diet: Solaras can live for months without food because they live off of fruit from the Sun Tree. The Sun Tree is a fruit tree that produces a fruit that looks somewhat like a mix of a pear and a pineapple. The Sun Fruits glow in the dark and bloom all season round. They are a Solara’s main food choice. Meanwhile Lunaries live off of the plants that they grow from the soil. Such as a dark purple carrot-shaped veggie called a Vivium. They tend to have a more balanced diet than Solaras and tend to eat meat on holidays. They keep specific animals for different uses. For example, Star Pigs are a type of dark, speckled hog that Solaras care for at least a year before sacrificing to the Moon God on the day of the full moon, and a pheasant-like bird called a Snivie is fed and fattened up for holidays. Mythology and Beliefs: Solaras and Lunaries are very religious species, both having different beliefs. The Solaras tend to worship the god in the sun, which they have named Magnus Ardor, or, The Great Glow. Lunaries worship the god of the moon, Maior Ens, meaning Greater Being, though each species has a different way of showing their respect for the gods. The Solaras gather shiny gemstones and geodes which they offer to Magnus Ardor on the Summer and Winter solstice. The Lunaries show their respect to Maior Ens through monthly sacrifices and caring for the land he gifted them. Though both species believe in a mutual god. Draconis Dente, or the Dragon’s Tooth, is a god that wanders among them. Favoring neither species and interacting with both. Draconis Dente is an all-powerful being who created Magnus Ardor, Maior Ens, and the Solaras and Lunaries. THIS SPECIES IS CREATED BY @woolykit! THE ART IS MINE, THE INFO IS MINE, YES YOU CAN MAKE YOUR OWN IF YOU WANT! REMIXING IS TOTALLY FINE! I HOPE YOU LOVE THEM AS MUCH AS I DO!!
