Wandering souls are essentially 'ghosts' that hover around Skytouch with trading goods. They are translucent, but tangible. They will come every [irl] month. Storytellers are a way for you to learn the history and possibly some lore. [ basic appearance and demeanor ] Wandering souls are translucent and grey, yet still tangible and visible. If you look through one, the world looks semi-distorted. Usually, wandering souls are friendly and easy to trade with, but won't strike up a conversation and instead just get the work done. There is, however, a way to get a wandering soul to talk. [ trading mechanics ] As stated above, each irl month either Cipher or I will post a comment in the Skytouch capital explaining exactly how many wandering souls are arriving, what they are trading and if you can any. You may be wondering what they supply. I'll get to that in a second. In mean time, I'll explain how to trade items. Simply reply to the comment with a short roleplay [1 comment long] of you trading items with the wandering souls. Either Cipher or I will respond accordingly. Now! I think it's high time you learn what they supply. - Jewelry - Food - Clothes/accessories - Slates/scrolls - Plants - Eggs (unhatched)/seeds - Animals You may be wondering what the difference is between plants and seeds or eggs and animals. I'll get to that in a different guide. For now, let's move on! [ what you can trade ] You may trade fossils and fossils only. However, there are some exceptions if we say so. Sometimes wandering souls accept payments in things like food, goods to trade, gems and basically any other natural items you can think of! We do have a right to deny other payments that don't include fossils, however. Storytellers don't need payments, but instead prefer people to hear their stories. [ storytellers ] Instead of trading items, storytellers tell stories. Usually they are made up, or just dreams, but sometime a storyteller might tell and plot-relevant story. If a storyteller does happen to come along, then you can gain fossils! Simply just reply to the comment to gain the fossils. This comment will be written by either Cipher & I. See example roleplays below. Original comment - : A storyteller glides through Skytouch, it's gentle figure weaving through buildings. Slowly, cats gather around it. Suddenly, with a grand flourish, its tale begins. So, are you one to listen? Or will you stay behind? Reply - @.RPer : Example spotted the storyteller, joy filling his gaze. Hastily, he scurried over and popped right in front of the storyteller to get the best view. Do NOT write replies like these: Reply - : Example listened to the storyteller. ❌ too short Reply - : Example was thinking of many things, when suddenly a cry echoed. Example's head shot up, immediately spying a storyteller waiting for cats to gather. Example strutted over, sitting in the front spot. Patiently, he waited for the tale to begin. The storyteller began with a grand flourish, its lips curling into a tight smile. After a long while, the story finished and Example stood up to applaud the storyteller. ❌ too long, rambling on too much. (By all means, comment this long, but it must fit into ONE comment and the thread will fill up if you take too long.) Reply - : Example was drawing couple of Skrets onto the walls as he hummed softly. Perhaps he would buy some tea later, or perhaps he shall watch a match at the arena. ❌ not related to the topic being discussed [ trading and buying wandering souls ] Some cats carry tons of tradable items. However, these items must be: - Jewelry - Food - Clothes/accessories - Slates/scrolls - Plants - Eggs (unhatched)/seeds - Animals So, we're introducing a system that allows you to gain fossils without starting a bartering stall/shop!! You can buy wandering souls through a certain amount of fossils and they can trade all your items for you. You get to keep 85% of the fossils (you can't expect the wandering soul to work for nothing!). So, how do I get a wandering soul? you may ask. Well, good question! And that's what I'm here for. You know how earlier I explained that either of the hosts will post a comment with items? Simply comment that you would like to buy one of the wandering souls and we'll add your goods to the list. Then, each irl month, you can tell us what you would like to add. Be aware, if this mechanic becomes very popular, we might start allocating months/certain trading amounts [e.g., you can only trade in February and July, and you can only trade a maximum of three things]. [continued in n+c]
[ wrap-up and summary ] In short [even though it's too late for that lol], storytellers can earn you fossils, you can buy things from wandering souls every irl month, and you can trade and buy wandering souls to sell your items. Thanks for listening to be ramble!! ~ Willow [Host] ♡
