Carnotaurus (/ˌkɑːrnoʊˈtɔːrəs/; lit. 'meat bull') ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Carnotaurus sastrei is a genus of theropod dinosaur that lived in South America during the Late Cretaceous period, probably sometime between 71 and 69 million years ago. It was a lightly built, 8-metre-long dinosaur that roamed the Chubut Province of Argentina. The most distinguishing feature of Carnotaurus was the bull-like horns above the eyes. The genus name, Carnotaurus, means ‘meat-eating bull’, while the species name, sastrei, honours the owner of the ranch where the fossil was found. The only skeleton (holotype MACN-CH 894) was unearthed in 1984 by an expedition led by Argentinian palaeontologist José Bonaparte. This expedition also recovered the peculiar spiny sauropod Amargasaurus. Source: Wikipedia
