Change the mass of the elevator + cat and the force acting upwards on the elevator to see how they affect the resultant force and acceleration of the elevator. Gravitational acceleration is a constant at 9.81m/s^2.
Made this to help visualise forces in action for a situation like this. Notice how even when the force applied by the elevator is positive, the elevator can still be accelerating downwards. If there was no force pushing the elevator up, it'd fall dangerously fast. Also, the background scrolling is tied proportionally to the acceleration, not the velocity of the elevator. In reality, the lines would get faster and faser over time. I might change this later.
