This is a sprite based on E369, the former yards pilot of Victorian Railways. Built by David Munro & Co as E494 on 13/12/1892 and used on suburban passenger service from 1893-1919. It was rebuilt from an E 2-4-2T into an EE class 0-6-2T and became EE494 in December 1919. In November 1923, the loco became EE369 and subsequently became 'E' once again in November 1931 (I should add that an original E 2-4-2T was kept in service at this time, but it had been unclassed to avoid confusion with the later 0-6-2T). For many years E369 was used at various yards around Victoria and was based at North Melbourne Loco. It was written off in February 1962 but avoided scrapping and kept operational. E369 (plus sisters E371 and E377) were used at Newport as departmental shunting locomotives for a few years, all 3 co-existed together until 1965 when E377 was scrapped. In 1968, E369 ran out on the mainline for the last time when it ran from Newport to Spencer Street to haul a vintage train for the celebration of Melbourne's railway electrification. E369 last ran sometime in 1969 or 1970 and was condemned for scrapping, which didn't happen. In 1972, E369 and other trains were moved to Spencer Street for a display, with the loco being moved back into storage afterwards, again commended for scrapping. But by 1973, efforts were made for the train to be moved to the Newport Railway Museum, where it resides today alongside derivative loco E506/236. NOTE: I will be constantly be adding changes/improvements to the model
