Watermelon - A Poem A beautiful fruit the colour of red for everything they lost black for the people they mourn green for the mold on the ruined buildings white for the martyred watching from the sky's EXPLANATION: The fruit means the watermelon, which in turn is a symbol of Palestine. Red, Black, and White are pretty simple to understand, and then we come to Green. The 'mold on ruined buildings' is saying that a once amazing and lush country is now destroyed and demolished.
