The breeze whispered honey and clover, a quiet melody that made her smile. As she slipped out of the nursery, the sun kissed her back—gentle, a warm embrace. Her paws swept across the earth, the grass soft beneath her, the dirt rough with promise. Though sight was a gift she had never known, the world was alive to her, felt in the brush of air, heard in the quiet murmur of the camp around her. With a sudden burst of energy, she leapt into the air, a flutter of joy rising in her chest. “Today is going to be perfect,” she grinned, her laugh full of mischief. She stands strong in her opinion that her blindness is not a weakness, nor does it prevent her from doing what she wants in life. She has chosen to see it as a strength instead of a setback. Though she has good intentions about this, it can lead her to be overly independent, often ignoring the fact that, maybe, she does need help, or that she does in fact need someone to rely on at times. Lee is also, however guarded, an extremely warm, feisty cat. She loves to talk with others, and enjoys banter and friendly teasing. She’s a very quick thinker, her cleverness and wits sharp. This makes her quite funny, and pretty silly. She is also a very perceptive and intuitive cat. Due to her blindness, she can pick up on other things much quicker than others, noticing only a slight shift in tone, or atmosphere, able to feel tension in the air dissipate, pick up on subtle movements, sounds and smells. ✾ social interaction ✾ Lee is pretty social, actually. It’s just that, to get there, the other cat has to be patient, and Clear will need to let go of some stuff. Her self protective barrier she’s built up makes it hard for her to form quick friendships, and it takes a long while to get close to her. ✾ quirks/habits ✾ Sometimes when Lee is annoyed or angry, she will start to complete a bunch of tasks, busying herself and making use of the energy within her. Due to her blindness, she will often tap any unknown surroundings (or surroundings in general), trying to get a good layout of it. Sometimes she will also be very reactive to small noises or any touch, because she can’t see it and that can often make her jumpy. (cont. in notes + credits)
[blindness] ✾ what is blindness ✾ Blindness is the inability to see or a lack of vision, and in severe cases, light is also no longer visible to the eye. There are several types of blindness including partial blindness, complete blindness, and congenital blindness. Lee was born blind, and is completely blind, lacking any ability to see light whatsoever. ✾ effects on daily life ✾ Lee often taps to find her way around or will brush her tail against things, trying to map them out. She also, like how cats who can see like particular colors, likes particular textures. She also struggles with the idea she's alone, and can't see anything past the darkness. They are most recognizable for their transparent wings, which earns them their name, and use this as a way to camouflage themselves. The transparency of their wings is a result of sparse, slim scales overlaying a see-through wing membrane that is coated in a bumpy layer of wax, further enhancing their camouflage. They are known to feed on rotting fruit and tree sap, and have long migrations similar to that of a Monarch.
