༻✦˚࿔⚜₊.•̩̩͙✫•̩̩͙.₊⚜࿔˙✦༺ “Hodge! Podge!” Professor Hyde calls out merrily, leaning back in his seat on the extravagant couch and waving a hand in the air. You look around for the two individuals, but much to your surprise, a pair of hands appear from behind a curtain, carrying a dark, polished typewriter. "It's counseling time!" Both hands are pale, almost a grayish-white, but with an elegant charm belying the strength behind the mysterious appendages. The left hand is gothic-styled with dark-painted nails and a fingerless glove with a bracelet, while the right hand is more pretty with a magenta satin bow about the wrist, baby pink nails, and golden rings. They're carrying a black and gold-trimmed typewriter that seemingly appeared out of thin air. "H-huh...?" a small gasp is all that left your parted lips before Professor Hyde took your attention once more. "I'm going to ask you some questions. All you have to do is answer truthfully– Don't overthink it," the white-haired man smiles warmly. With a hesitant affirmation from you, he launches into his inquiries. "You said you encountered an anomaly covered head to toe in flowering plants, correct?" You nod slightly. "Yes, I did..." "And did you see the eye?" There's something more intent in his tone now, but it's difficult to discern his emotions with the black blindfold covering his eyes. You pause involuntarily, taking a moment to consider his words. "Eye..." You don’t even get a chance to think back on your own– The horrifying visage of the anomaly on the train jars your thoughts and sends a shudder through your body. A smiling person covered in blossoming flowers that suddenly peeled its upper petals back to reveal a gigantic eye peering at you while it released a bone-chilling giggle. …The eye sorta resembled the bulb of the blossom, now that you’re thinking about it. You swallow thinly, forcing your mind back to the present. “Yes… It had one big eye where its face should have been,” you reply, your voice more strained than before. Even remembering was enough to churn your stomach. “Did you make eye contact?” Hyde presses further, resting his forearms on his knees as he leans forward. You manage to give a nod. “I see…” He tilts his head down momentarily before turning his head back up. “That’s a shame. Hodge, Podge, write ‘confirmed’.” The typewriter’s keys resounded through the relatively quiet room, and it almost feels as though you’ve been sentenced to a dire punishment. You feel your throat tighten and your brow crease further, the pressure and weight of the situation bearing down on you like a slow-burning inferno around your head. The questions, the records, the hands– “Oh, sorry, are they distracting you? They like to watch people,” Professor Hyde’s supposedly-reassuring words break your train of thought and you snap your gaze back up to his…lack of one. “The right hand with the red ribbon is Hodge. The left hand with the black lace glove is Podge.” “…Right…” You sink back into your seat slightly. A slightly warmer smile tugs at Hyde’s lips. “Don’t worry. We just want to understand what happened to you,” he explains. You feel only mildly relieved. …If that. Hodge waves at you happily, but Podge taps its index on the desk rather impatiently. You’re not sure how to handle literal hands having personalities. But! You still offer a small, tentative wave back. Professor Hyde claps his hands together, jerking your attention back to him once more. “Alright, let’s take a peek inside your noggin next, shall we? Hopefully it didn’t mess around in there too much. Take a look at these questions and pick the answer that vibes with you most. Just go with your first instinct.” And with that, he pushes a thin stack of papers towards you. ༻✦˚࿔⚜₊.•̩̩͙✫•̩̩͙.₊⚜࿔˙✦༺ ~ INSTRUCTIONS ~ Welcome to the house sorting quiz for Tokyo Debunker’s Darkwick Academy, a prestigious, classified school for Japan’s best of the elite.
