Name: shields of the stars Home world: vernistior IV Founding chapter: Iron Hands Traitor/loyalist: loyalist Personality of legionary: cold and calculating(there are a few exceptions) Founding: 21st cursed founding Gene mutations: Boils and rashes similar to the black plague with varying sizes (sometimes there skin even begins to just fall off) Main thing they do: they mostly kill zenos but they do have a special hatred for the death guard because the death guard enjoy being diseased X factor thing: like the iron hands they replace their flesh with mechanical components but they have to do it to combat there mutations so they are not in agonizing pain Why the inquisition dislikes them: many times have the shields augmented sacred technology so it could fit a different purpose whether it be turning a rhino into a giant oven or a laz cannon into a bike they have done it which has made them a target of the inquisition. This has caused them to distrust the inquisition but they do understand that it is a important part of the imperium Story: 5000 thousand years before the present 41st millennium was the 21st founding before the marines began to be created no one knew how bad the mutations would be from slight gene tampering but when the shields of the stars were made it was obvious that just slight tampering with gene seed could have catastrophic effects in some chapters like the black dragons only have some weird mutations or others more effecting like in the carcharodons where there flesh would not properly attach to their own bone but one of the worst of all was the mutations of the shields of the stars when gene seed is implanted in an aspirant and gene plague slowly infects them as they get more and more augmented eventually culminating when they are fully transformed leaving boils,sores,and rashes(sometimes there skin will slough off)this has caused much suffering for the chapter so they have taken to augmenting their bodys with mechanical components like there gene fathers the iron hands little note I forgot to mention is that almost all of them have studied with the adeptus mechanicus of mars and they are almost all tech marines
