I FINISHED THE ODYSSEY (as you'll find out as you move further into this project) Storytime!: when I was, like, nine of smt, my cousin (who was thirteen at the time,) was reading the Iliad translated by Robert Fagles. she seemed to really like it, and so I wanted to read it, too. When I asked to read it, she said, "No, there might be some advanced vocab and concepts you might not understand yet. maybe when you're older." Now, I understand that she meant that I was a little to young to jump into the weird, amazing world of classics yet. BUT MY LITTLE NINE-YEAR-OLD BRAIN WASN'T HAVING ANY OF THAT!!! in my mind, she called me dumb. I hadn't read the odyssey for a really long time cuz I was scared it would have super advanced words and stuff like that. But Robert Fagles translates it in a way that uses modern language to help younger readers better understand what's going on. so, I'm grateful for that. (there's literally a line where he writes "Telemachus nonchalantly drew his hand from the mast of the ship" LIKE WHAT?? XD)
