The girl snapped her fingers, smiling evilly. "S-stop, and free us!" one of the boys stuttered. He attempted to look brave, but he was trembling and his voice was laced with obvious fear. "'Stop'?" repeated the cowgirl , her smile forming into a huge, triumph grin. "Remember, what the others told you," she added, whistling for her horse to come. Pounding hoofbeats rang in the boys' ears, and a grunt followed. Slowly but surely, the boys remembered what happened: "I remember seeing a full-size poster about the abandoned barn that's said to have a beautiful ghost cowgirl haunting it," Jake, one of the boys, had pointed out. "A haunted barn?" Max repeated, his eyes growing wide. "This is going to be fun!" Samuel snorted. "Hah!" he laughed. "Ghosts aren't real. Besides, they only live in abandoned places. It just goes to show that they're full-fledged wimps," explained Samuel. So the three set off, but they were stopped two days later by an enchanting young lady. "Oh, my! How handsome young men!" she squealed, batting her eyelashes and flipping her gorgeous, glossy blond hair. "Um, thanks. What's your name?" asked Samuel. "Clara! But call me Lara if you wish," the blond young lady replied. She swiftly walked over the boys. "Ahem!" It was Max. His cheeks were bright red, but he looked at Clara straight in the eye. "Dear Clara. Even though it will be a pleasure to stay with you, we are on a mission. Do you know where--" Max paused, gesturing at the piece of paper in his hand. "--this abandoned barn is?" Clara screamed. She fainted, her head hitting the grass. Opening one eye, she said shakily, "Boys, that place--it's not for kids to play around.
