Guide: YA (Young adult) books are stories written for readers featuring teenage protagonists and exploring themes like identity, friendship, family, love, and personal growth. Lower YA targets ages 12–14, with younger protagonists and gentler themes Upper YA targets ages 15–18, with older teen characters, darker stakes, and more complex emotional or romantic content. New Adult/Adult focuses on ages 18–25, featuring older protagonists and explicit themes These are publishing categories. Not genres. ----- Now did I read some of these despite the categories?
