Hi guys. I wasn't sure about posting this, but I figured I should since I was gone for like 2 weeks. Last Friday, my cat Amanda passed away. She was fine and healthy, and then suddenly, she wasn't. I found her on the morning of Thursday, sprawled out on the ground and having difficulty breathing, so me and my parents brought her to the emergency vetinary hospital. It turns out she had pyothorax, which means there was pus in her chest, around her lungs. That's why she had trouble breathing. I was hopeful because the vet said cats that get this disease have a really good prognosis, around a 70% survival rate. We ended up leaving her there that night. Though, a couple of hours later, we had to come back because she was doing worse. Again, I decided to give her a chance and let her continue staying the night. We went home, and they called us around 10:00 am on Friday. At this point, she was septic; her body was responding badly to the infection in her chest. She looked horrible, and she was obviously in pain. We didn't have enough money to treat her appropriately, around $20,000, so we decided to put her down. I didn't want my baby to suffer any longer, she didn't deserve it. The doctors who treated her tried their best, and it's not their fault. Amanda was so tiny, so the infection spread very quickly. The sucky part is that she was only 5 years old. She was supposed to live much longer than she did. I don't have great parents, so she was like a mom, a sister, and a best friend to me. I'll never forget her. I hope she's in a good place now.
If you don't like mentions of death, pls don't read the above. I don't want to upset anyone :( I'm back now, so I'll start working on everything again.
