Without waiting for a response, Brownie grabbed Quartz's hand and tugged her to the side just as a figure burst out from the bushes. Affogato Cookie stood in front of them, his eyes glinting maliciously in the darkness. He held his staff in one hand and looked at them with sinister amusement. "Well, well, well," he said, his voice smooth but threatening. "If it isn't Dark Cacao Cookie's daughter. Out for a midnight stroll, were we?" Brownie could feel Quartz's hand trembling in hers, but she held on tight and stepped slightly forward, shielding the younger Cookie from Affogato's gaze. "What are you doing here?" she demanded, trying to keep her voice steady. Affogato chuckled sinisterly, with a smug smile on his face. "I think the more important question is what are YOU doing here? Out so late at night, far from the protection of your kingdom." Brownie bit back her fear, refusing to give Affogato the satisfaction of seeing her falter. "That's none of your business," she retorted, her grip on Quartz's hand tightening in silent reassurance. Affogato's smile grew wider. "Oh, but it is my business," he said, taking a few steps towards them. "You see, your father has something I want, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get it." Brownie could feel panic bubbling up in her chest but pushed it aside as best she could, meeting Affogato's gaze with defiance. "You'll never get what you want," she hissed, standing her ground. Affogato let out a dark laugh, his eyes narrowing. "Oh, you're more stubborn than I thought. A true Cacao Warrior indeed. But your defiance won't save you for long." Brownie braced herself, her hand moving to the handle of her sword. She could feel Quartz's grip on her hand tightening even more, her young friend shaking with fear but standing strong. Affogato noticed her gesture and smirked. "You think your little sword can protect you from me?" he taunted, brandishing his staff in a threatening manner. "It'll do more than enough if I drive it through your head," Brownie retorted, her voice steady despite the fear. Affogato chuckled darkly, his eyes glinting with amusement. "You're full of fire, aren't you, little warrior? But let's see how long that fire lasts." And with those words, he lunged forward, swinging his staff with a swift movement. Brownie reacted quickly, pushing Quartz behind a bush and narrowly dodging the attack. She unsheathed her sword in a swift motion and struck back, her blade meeting the staff with a loud clang. The impact made Affogato stumble back, his smirk faltering for a moment, surprised by Brownie's quick reflexes and skill. He recovered swiftly, his staff glowing with purple energy as he prepared to cast a spell. Brownie tightened her grip on her sword, ready to defend against whatever spell Affogato was about to cast. She was tiring, ehe knew it. But she wouldn't give up. She was too stubborn to even think about giving up. Affogato parried and dodged her attacks, his smirk returning as he saw her starting to tire. He suddenly flicked his staff, sending a spell her way while she was vulnerable, and the spell hit....
