IMPORTANT WORDS TO KNOW FOR THIS Kabuki: Japanese theater, the kanji means something like "skill", "dance" and "sing" Kumadori: the makeup the performers in Kabuki use ANOTHER FUN FACT!!! Kedamono is trying to appear as human as possible with his masks and tendencies, THAT'S WHY EVERYONE FREAKED OUT WHEN THEY REALIZED HE WASN'T HUMAN. Apparently Papi took Kedamono in as a wolf cub, which is sweet
SO I NOTICED SOMETHING REALLY COOL. I saw a comment comparing Papi's theme to Kabuki music (press the sun icon if you want to listen), so I went down a little bit of a rabbit hole. I noticed the makeup that appears on the faces of Papi and Popee when they get REALLY mad (maybe Kedamono too but I don't have a source for that, also the kedamono no kao wa thing translates to "the face of a beast/the animal", neat fact), ANYWAY the colors of the makeup actually mean something! Red makeup means a powerful hero character. Blue represents a villain or negative emotions!! Papi has only red while Popee has red AND blue! The red on Popee's mouth might've just been his really stretched out mouth but idk STILL COOL
