Just last week a coordinated strike by a group of Sikartan combatants seized control of Sikarta's largest military base after a 6 hour long battle. At 10:00PM the troops garrisoned at the compound underwent a barrage MG and RPG fire, surrounding the camp from every direction with some witnesses estimating around 300 strong. The soldiers, caught off-guard by the onslaught, were disarrayed and disoriented, barely managing to push back. As the compound was breached at around 2:00AM, the defenders began to abandon their defensive posts - losing all hope of rescue - and fled for the safety of the jungle or the major port, almost 3km away. Reinforcements were called but due to the time of night, communication lines overrun by attackers and an inability to amass a large force as well as preemptive blockages of roadways by the attackers, only yielded 1 helicopter. In the aftermath, 20 were dead, 26 soldiers were in critical condition and 57 injured on the defensive side as well as 12 key personnel taken hostage. Not only was a crucial location lost but also the equipment stored there. Numbers are disclosed but many firearm caches like man-portable missile systems and ammunition as well as light armoured vehicles like LUV's and APC's were captured. The military has issued a full lockdown of the city and the rebel influenced settlements, blockading citizens from entering in or out as the region is officially pronounced a warzone. Relocation of the anchored military vessels and Javonesian equipment is undergoing. Several operations are being prepared in an attempt to counter attack and the army has begun actively training and enlisting recruits.
