The Crust moves around, causing faults, mountains, and volcanoes. The mantle moves the crust around and puts magma in volcanoes.
Sediment forms from rock that have been crushed and eroded into particles, like sand, or the rocks in mud, or dirt. Sedimentary rock is the compacted and lithified version of sediment. Igneous rock is rock that has formed from magma or lava. Extrusive igneous rock is rock formed from lava, and Intrusive igneous rock is formed from magma. The difference between lava and magma is that lava is above ground, and magma is below ground. Metamorphic rock has been heated and compressed, similar to coal turning to diamond. Metamorphic rocks are very deep because it takes a lot of time to turn into metamorphic rock, allowing more rocks to pile on top of the rock. The Mantle moves the crust, which forms mountains and volcanoes, creating pressure and erosion so that more rocks can form. The mantle supplies the magma to the surface.
