Triton 43 (Russian for Newt 43) was a Soviet experiment done in 1961 after the return of Yuri Gagarin from his voyage to space. During his trip, Yuri's craft was hit by something small that stuck to one of the windows, a piece of the meteor that hit Earth in 2005. When the Soviet scientists got a hold of the rock they decided to test it with newts. The scientists made a secret laboratory deep in Siberia. They chose newts because of their regenerative properties. After the deaths of 42 test newts the 43rd newt was the only one to survive, but as time went on the scientists found no reason to keep it they abandoned the lab and left Triton 43 to die. Unfortunately, the lab was soon raided by urban explorers and other people trying to snoop around. This gave 43 the perfect chance to escape. After years of torture from the cold and from the people living nearby 43 was able to grow to large sizes. With his full growth reached he slept deep in a frozen lake until the call.
