It’s been a while since Soulstruck, I know. And.. you might already know why, but in case you don’t.. Soulstuck just is.. not turning out the way I wanted it to. I have a lot of problems with it: And some experienced comic makers might be like, “Did you not plan out the plot?” Well, in the first version, I didn’t. Not at all. It was solely inspired by my irl friend’s comic on scratch, and I wanted to do something like that too. But I had no idea what I was doing. And so I started over, and planned out the true villian, and the characters. But I forgot one thing: to give the good guys depth. Like, I love making and designing characters. But Periwinkle has like a couple things about her: she cares about her sister, is rather dull, and super indecisive. She only went on a quest because she was forced to, and sometimes it’s like she doesn’t care enough. Periwinkle is super shallow, and it’s driving me crazy. She has no personality.. she’s like a slug, she sits there and does nothing unless you decide to throw a rock at it, or a power hungry and rather stupid king. Another problem: the plot isn’t progressing enough. There’s not enough twists, and the plot hasn’t even started. And the last thing: the title. Soulstruck was some magical curse or something or other that would be a part of the original. That was totally cut when I rebooted it. Now it’s a cool title that means nothing.. and it’s not working for me. Soulstruck is nothing. Periwinkle is nothing. The prologue doesn’t even fit the current plot.
So what’s my solution? I.. honestly have no idea. But the original Soulstruck is a dead series. It’s gone. I plan to use what I was planning for the plot, in another series. The one that is the recovery of Soulstruck. A better one. But right now it’s nothing as well, an aimless, floating plot with a couple characters clinging onto it. I need a title, too. This story is going to be something about acceptance. About realizing that you’re not meant to be the hero, and alright with being the supporter, the one that keeps the hero up and running. It’s also going to be about to second chances. And finding hope. And last of all: that winning has a price. I’m not going to lie, I like bittersweet endings. All my stories have them. And in some, there’s no resolution. Just a denouement. So summed up: I have a lot of problems with Soulstruck. So it’s over. But I will be starting a series, so I can share the planned plot with you. And I fully plan for it to be better, although it is still titleless. It may not be shared on this account. But unless life gets in the way, I hope for it to happen. Also, as for Stolen Moments.. it’s not dead. I just haven’t had a story spark recently.
