This is how I experience the senses: Sight: The funny thing about light is that I always want it to change. If the lights are on, I want them off. If the lights are off, I want them on. Additionally, I don't like sunlight. It hurts my eyes and is my worst enemy. Hearing: This is an interesting one. I have APD, so if I hear someone speaking with a lot of background noise, I can't understand them at all. Also, quiet noises bother me more than loud noises. If I'm in a crowded area, I'd prefer if it were quieter, but it's still better than hearing someone quietly whistling or worse, humming. Smell: Honestly I don't know what to say for this one. Taste: I would just like to say that eating is one of my favorite activities on this earth. However, I am pretty sensitive to taste. There are some foods I cannot stand, such as most vegetables, which I suffer through since my mom wants me to have the nutrients. For the record, I want the nutrients as well, I just prefer to get them from foods I actually like. Touch: I am pretty sensitive to touch, especially textures. There are certain clothes that I refuse to wear because of their textures. My favorite tactile stim is to take an object and rub it on my lip.
