Wow 5 years huh on this platform. It’s been a while, and I wanna talk about how those 5 years have been, and the people that i have met and that have departed. First and foremost i wanna thank scratch for providing me the opportunity to be on this platform, and for teaching me a lot about game development, and art. With the friends I made along the way. There have been some upturns and downturns but it has been positive all the way generally. There are many great people on scratch that’s what i will say. Secondly i wanna say Scratch has a lot of problems that i find worrying. My main gripe is its evolution into It becoming a social media caused mainly by the scratch team, and its users. The explore page is the main issue of this incentivising becoming popular to appear there. It encourages bullying, and general misconduct like mass reporting or imagery of things not suitable for children appearing like mascot horror games/games that appeal to children but have adult themes (you can probably think of some). Not to mention handling the burden of popularity which a child is not equipped to handle. The scratch team is overworked. I understand that, but blacklisting certain things from the explore page would help to remove mature projects. Like they did with Fnaf for instance. Or have certain age limits to getting on the explore page. Last gripe is its lack of updates. Which is a combination of the amount of people joining, and scratch’s non profit nature which leaves little funds nor resources to make anything meaningful like new blocks, or new quality of life features. This is why I changed to extensions that can just add, add, and add extensions without interrupting the core if you don’t want to use them. Now I wanna ask myself ‘‘should i keep going, or do i learn something new’’ probably will stay longer as i find it fun to just make random stuff for fun. I will not be quitting, but i wont share anything of value as my new projects will be made using external plugins. As for the friends i made along the way u guys are cool B). A little side tangent, but I feel I’ve had had a disconnect with my Norwegian as of result of me being a lot on the English side of the internet, rather being on the Norwegian side. This has made me feel I’ve become worse at Norwegian than English which I find a little bit scary, and I have also talked to myself to English a lot also. I don’t really know how to put it but I wished there was more Norwegian stuff that has the same interests like in the English community so I have an insensitive to even speak it on the Internet, as I spend a lot of time there. Probably are communities like that, but I don’t know how to find them. So this is why I want to maybe translate my future games in Norwegian or maybe just do something related to my country like creating off platform videos that are spoken Norwegian exclusively. TLDR: will not be quitting just wanna make cooler stuff with more powerful engines like turbo warp as this platform has weird quirks i find unappealing. Also want to focus on Norwegian stuff also.
